Description: A 12 Month, Full Time Position. Salary as per the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Appalachia Intermediate Unit 8 Board of School Directors and the Appalachia Intermediate Unit 8 ESPA/PSEA/NEA. This is a non-certificated postion

Job Summary: To provide quality support services as dictated by the Intermediate Unit's endeavor to provide quality services through continuous innovation.

Qualifications:
  1. High school diploma or GED
  2. Acceptable amount of continuing education or college courses in computer operation, typing, proofreading, filing, word processing, strong verbal communications and written skills
  3. Good interpersonal skills
  4. At least one year's documented and satisfactory experience in a similar position
  5. Ability to work multiple tasks at one time.
  6. Acceptable Act 34, Act 151 clearances and Act 114 clearances.
  7. Must be able to interpret, analyze and problem solve.
  8. Must be able to converse and interact with individuals with diverse levels of education and abilities.
  9. Ability to maintain personal schedule, work area, files and responsibilities.
  10. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  11. Must be able to interact in a positive manner and follow directions.
  12. Must be able to work with various computer applications.

Working Conditions: Normal office environment.

In the course of performing the duties and functions of Secretary the holder of the position will be required to stand, walk, sit, squat/stoop, reach and lift items of varying weights.

The position holder must be able to perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation. IU 8 is one of the 29 intermediate units that provides a vast array of services for member school districts, including student services, training and technical assistance, online learning, and customized programs and services. IU 8 includes four counties comprised of 35 school districts (approximately 98 schools) and five Career Technical Centers. Appalachia Intermediate Unit 8 serves approximately 47,000 students across four counties within 3500 square miles. Our service area includes four counties: Blair, Somerset, Bedford, and Cambria. We have five different office locations within our service area: Altoona, Duncansville, Ebensburg, Richland, and Somerset.  IU08 has opportunities for everyone and our service area offers a broad range of living environments from rural to more densely populated city areas.
