POSITION: Summer School English Teacher

STARTING: Summer 2022
PAY: $1800/course - Contractual

SUMMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Facilitators for this program are dynamic educators who believe in creating opportunities for students to learn and grow using adventure based experiential learning. Facilitators will be leading students through the curriculum of activities, reflection, debrief, and cooperation in 2-hour increments over the course of 10 days. Facilitators are responsible for the physical and emotional safety and well-being of the participants and expected to be conversant in concepts such as Social Emotional Learning, risk-taking, Challenge by Choice, and leadership.
Each day facilitators will lead students through the program which includes opportunities to check in with students, active exploration through adventure based problem-solving and cooperation, guided stress management techniques, reflection, and journaling. While leading these activities, facilitators are expected to monitor the physical and emotional well-being of the students and respond in an appropriate manner consistent with the philosophy challenge programs.
Facilitators are also expected to uphold and enforce the behavioral expectations of the district and applicable laws. Facilitators work with the program coordinator and district administration to ensure that the program is being implemented correctly, safety concerns are addressed, problems that arise are dealt with in an appropriate manner, and that the goals of the program always remain in focus.
Facilitators will also have the opportunity to work with the students through the academic school year as well. They may serve as advisors, mentors, or in other capacities for students to check in with going forward.
