Intermediate District 287 is a west metro district for learners with unique needs. As an intermediate district, we provide specialized services, primarily setting IV special education, to students from 11 member districts in the west metro.

Intermediate District 287 is a west metro district for learners with unique needs. As an intermediate district, we provide specialized services, primarily setting IV special education, to students from 11 member districts in the west metro.
What Makes Us Special:
- We are a trauma-informed district. We take into account past trauma and the resulting coping mechanisms when attempting to understand behaviors and best serve our students.
- There is a variety of support services in each school including School Social Workers, Psychologists, Counselors, Behavior Intervention Specialists and Student Safety Coaches. All of whom are student-centered and focused on building relationships with each child.
- Small class sizes - typically 6-8 students per class

- North Education Center - New Hope, MN
- Ann Bremer Education Center - Brooklyn Park, MN
- Dates:
- Staff Orientation: June 28
- CPI Training: June 29 (8:00am - 3:00pm)
- Program Dates: July 10 - July 28
- Days/Hours:
- Monday - Friday
- 8:00am - 11:45am
- Interested in candidates who are: diverse, bilingual, or have experience working with diverse populations.
- High school diploma or a general education development (GED) certificate
Two (2) years of full-time employment or equivalent working with individuals in an
an environment that provides broad familiarity and understanding of the physical and
emotional behaviors and challenges of children with exceptional needs - Substitution Allowed: College training may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equaling one-half (½) year of experience to a maximum of two (2) years.
