POSITION TITLE: 23 Summer School - Outdoor Lab - COOK (HOURLY)
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Arlington Public Schools (APS) requires all employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 unless a medical or religious exemption is approved. Being fully vaccinated means that an individual is at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen (i.e. Pfizer, Moderna, and/or Johnson and Johnson). As a condition of employment, newly hired employees will be required to provide proof of their COVID-19 vaccination.
Session A:June 26, 2023- June 30, 2023
Session B: July 10, 2023 - July 14, 2023
Session C: July 17, 2023 - July 21, 2023
PREFERENCE WILL BE GIVEN TO APPLICANTS AVAILABLE TO WORK ALL
THREE SESSIONS
This position is not eligible for a summer school bonus.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities Include:
● Purchase, order & receive, prepare, and serve all the food for 3 - week-long (M-F) sessions of summer
camp, in June and July, at the Phoebe Hall Knipling Outdoor Lab's Summer Camp located in Broad Run
(Fauquier County), VA
● Plan a menu, with the approval of the camp director, to provide healthy, varied, and economical meals
(breakfast, lunch, and dinner) as well as snacks
● Supervise the cooking assistants
● Communicate with staff and parents regarding the special dietary needs of campers
● Accommodate the dietary needs of staff and campers
● Assure parents that their child's dietary needs will be met while at the Outdoor Lab Camp
● Maintain a clean kitchen that meets health department standards
● Itemize and submit receipts for food purchases on a weekly basis
● Other duties as assigned by the Camp Director
EXPERIENCE:
Experience:
● Experience with students from diverse backgrounds
QUALIFICATIONS:
Preferred Qualifications:
● Car and valid driver's license
● Experience in food service and cooking for large groups
● Certification in safe commercial kitchen food handling practices
