20 HOURS PER WEEK
CHAPMAN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Description:
The Learning Support Tutor (LST) provides intervention and instruction to students who are not yet performing at grade level in reading or math. The LST works with individual students or small groups and follows a schedule and protocol provided by certified teachers and the school principal. The LST is also responsible for progress monitoring assessments and data entry.
Significant training is provided in key areas of job responsibilities to best support student learning, including
- Understanding of reading and writing skill building
- Understanding of foundational math concepts
- Understanding of progress monitoring measures (e.g. reading fluency and comprehension)
Scheduled Hours: Tuesday - Friday 8:00am - 1:00pm
Supervised by: School Principal and/or Assistant Superintendent and/or their designee.
Qualifications:
- College degree (teaching certification preferred but not required)
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to be trained in key areas of job responsibilites
- Interest and/or experience working with elementary students
