GENERAL PURPOSE

This position is responsible for providing support to the instructional program by assisting with the management of early childhood programs and services; directing assigned programs and services at early childhood site(s); providing information and serving as a resource to others; supervising assigned staff; coordinating school activities and addressing issues, situations and/or problems that arise at the site or with enrolled students.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Collaborates with staff and community partners for the purpose of improving the overall quality of student outcomes and achieving established classroom objectives.

Evaluates assigned personnel for the purpose of ensuring that standards are achieved and performance is maximized.

Facilitate and participate in a variety of meetings for the purpose of convening and/or gathering information; coordinating activities; and/or ensuring that outcomes achieve school, district and/or state objectives.

Facilitates the development, communication implementation and evaluation of quality learning for the purpose of enhancing excellence, equality and equity for staff and students.

Implements policies, procedures, new programs and/or processes for the purpose of providing direction and/or complying with mandated requirements to help ensure a safe and effective learning climate for students.

Maintains accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations for the purpose of meeting regulatory and other requirements.

Manages a variety of school administrative functions, as assigned by the Director - Early Childhood Parents as Teachers, for the purpose of maintaining safe and efficient school operations within district guidelines.

Observes classroom instruction for the purpose of coaching teachers, and evaluating the implementation of established curriculum, instructional techniques and classroom management.

Participates in meetings, workshops and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.

Prepares a wide variety of written materials (e.g. reports, memos, workshop and course materials, articles, data collection reports, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information.

Reports incidents (e.g. student behavior, suspected child abuse, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining personal safety of students, providing a positive learning environment and adhering to applicable laws and/or regulations.

Responds to a variety of inquires (e.g. staff, parents, students, outside agencies, District personnel, etc.) for the purpose of resolving problems, providing information, and/or referring to appropriate personnel.

Supervises school personnel for the purpose of monitoring performance, providing for professional growth and achieving overall objectives of school's curriculum.

Supports Director, Early Childhood for the purpose of providing assistance with administrative functions.

Performs other related duties as required/assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience

Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in Educational Administration or Educational Leadership is required.

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university is required.

Administration Certification Required

Minimum of four (4) years of job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required.

Certificates, Licenses and Other Special Requirements

Must have an Early Childhood Education Certificate.

Ability to gain and maintain "Highly Qualified" status as defined by Missouri's Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

Must pass a Criminal Background Clearance, the results of which must be satisfactory to the District, required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of algebra and/or geometry; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions.

Knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: pertinent codes, policies, regulations and/or laws; conflict resolution; bookkeeping principles, and concepts of management and supervision.

Skill to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to routinely upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions.

Skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job, including: planning and managing projects; using pertinent software applications; preparing and maintaining accurate records; and administering personnel policies.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Work environment is primarily inside, where the noise and temperature levels are moderate.

The work is light work which requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects.

Must possess the physical ability to work primarily with fingers, perceive the nature of sounds, make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive processes, express or exchange ideas by the spoken word, substantial movements (motions) with the hands, wrists, and/or fingers, and discern letters or numbers at a given distance.

Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, climbing, crouching, feeling, handling, hearing, kneeling, manual dexterity, mental acuity, reaching, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, and walking.
