    Instructional Technology Intervention Specialist Itinerant Job Description

    ROLE SUMMARY

    The Instructional Technology Intervention Specialist Itinerant (IT IS) will assist students with disabilities in elementary and high schools to enhance learning through the improved integration of technology. The primary focus of the position is to ensure accessible materials are available for all students with disabilities. The IT IS will support classroom learning while strengthening the skills of students and intervention specialists. He/she will work to support school improvement efforts and build the technology instructional capacity of intervention specialists. Extensive knowledge of 21st-century skills, commitment to improving instruction for individuals with disabilities, and successful implementation of instructional technology are required. The position will support curriculum access tools and assistive technologies with other duties as assigned.

    ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    The essential responsibilities of the Instructional Technology Intervention Specialist Itinerant include, but are not limited to:
    • Instruct students with disabilities in the use of current technology to increase access to grade level curriculum.
    • Instruct students with disabilities in the use of current technology to meet IEP goals and objectives.
    • Develop activities that help integrate technology into various curriculum areas for students with disabilities.
    • Model effective instructional strategies using technology in classroom environments.
    • Use data to design technology-based instructional strategies for students with disabilities.
    • Utilize Schoology and CPS Websites as a resource for training and support of instructional technology resources for intervention specialists.
    • Maintain current knowledge of high yield Instructional practices that relate to the use of technology.
    • Plan, facilitate and/or conduct technology-focused professional learning for intervention specialists and district staff. Submit proposals to present at district, state, and national conferences regarding the implementation of instructional technology for students with disabilities.
    • Research use of newer technologies in instruction for students with disabilities and communicate best practice to district educators through frequent updates
    • Provide and offer support for pilot programs that increase student access to curriculum.
    • Promote collaboration between district learning teams that influences accessible instruction for diverse learners
    • Collaborate with Curriculum Access Team Members to provide holistic services for student access.
    • Participate in monthly Intervention Specialists Curriculum Council Meetings.


    KNOWLEDGE and ABILITIES

    The knowledge and abilities of the Instructional Technology Intervention Specialist Itinerant include, but are not limited to:
    • Considerable knowledge of the appropriate uses of technology for instruction for students with disabilities in various subject areas.
    • Considerable knowledge of the current literature, trends, and developments in the field of instructional technology for students with disabilities.
    • Considerable knowledge of allowable accommodations for all state standardized assessments.
    • Knowledge of district adopted curriculum resources and best practices across content areas
    • Knowledge of IEP, Assistive Technology, and ETR team decision making process
    • Ability to teach students with disabilities in all grade levels.
    • Ability to organize and deliver staff development opportunities that support the use of instructional technology for students with disabilities.
    • Ability to maintain complete and accurate records and to develop meaningful reports.
    • Ability to effectively express ideas orally and in writing.
    • Ability to evaluate the effectiveness of programs and make recommendations for improvements.
