GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK
Under the supervision of the Principal, the Academically Gifted (AG) Resource Teacher plans, organizes, and implements an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their potential.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Under the supervision of the Principal, the Academically Gifted (AG) Resource Teacher plans, organizes, and implements an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their potential.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Instruct students according to appropriate curriculum that includes assessment and review processes
- Plan, develop, write, and implement lesson plans in keeping with school district and state education requirements
- Keep records of student achievement and track their abilities
- Work in collaboration with staff and other teachers
- Conduct instructional collaborative planning for students in grades 6-8
- Provide instruction and service to identified AG students in grades 6-8 at the site (integrated thematic units, writing process concentration, research skills, etc.)
- Provide resources for site teachers (providing resources, collaboratively planned lessons)
- Perform assessment administration during testing windows at each location
- Comply with and enforce school rules and school board policies and procedures
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on committees as appropriate
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Outstanding skills in teaching, curriculum development, and working with parents
- Strong commitment to professional growth in gifted education as evidenced through attendance at conferences, workshops, and membership in regional/state/national AG agencies
- Hold or is eligible for a teaching license with endorsement in Gifted Education issued by the Virginia Board of Education
- Successful experience in working with gifted/high achieving students
