Description of Service Opportunity:
The teacher will teach English Learners in grade 4 in the ELL Summer Enrichment Program. The teacher will instruct students using the ESL and math summer curriculum. The teacher will plan and teach lessons using the SIOP model of instruction and the 2020 WIDA ELD Standards. In addition, the teacher will differentiate instruction for English learners using appropriate English language development pedagogy and sheltered instruction methodology.
Minimum Requirements/Job Qualifications:
- Teacher Certification in Elementary, ESL and/or ELL Education
- The teacher will be skilled in effective instructional strategies for teaching ELLs, English language learning, and Sheltered Immersion methodology. The candidate will be expected to collaborate with colleagues, demonstrate high expectations for English language learners, be effective in working with immigrant families and create a learning environment that fosters mutual respect and cultural sensitivity.
Education: Bachelors degree or higher from an accredited college or university with a concentration in elementary education and teaching ELLs
Experience: At least 2 years of experience teaching linguistically diverse students in an urban setting.
Languages: Proficiency in English and fluency in a language other than English is preferred but not required.
Contract Dates:
July 10, 2023 through August 4, 2023
Contract Amount:
$40.00 per hour, Not to exceed $5,200.00
