Job Description
Manchester Elementary Middle School seeks an enthusiastic, open-minded teacher with a growth mindset to join our three person, Grade 6 team of dedicated teachers. The ideal candidate will be a strong, collaborative team member who is committed to continuing to work on their teaching practice through professional development both individually and as a team.

The Middle Level Science & Math Teacher should be properly licensed or eligible for licensure to teach their content area. Applicants will be expected to have knowledge in current instructional research and exemplary practices; a student-centered focus, an integrated approach to curriculum and instruction, a willingness to be flexible and be creative regarding instruction and assessment, exemplary oral and written communication skills, effective at developing rapport with students, and strong communication skills with parents and students. An understanding of middle level philosophy is required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Must meet the basic competencies and qualifications of the endorsement(s) as listed in the Regulations Governing the Licensing of Educators and the Preparation of Educational Professionals
Plan lessons based on NGSS, CCSS, and district proficiencies utilizing varied approaches
Experience with Project-based learning
Collaborate with special educators and interventionists to plan and implement differentiated lessons
Commitment to the success of all students
Utilize a variety of approaches to establish a safe and caring classroom community and to providing a safe and respectful learning environment for students
Understanding of Developmental Design and PBIS is a plus
Knowledge of best practices regarding school and class approaches to meeting the needs of all learners (i.e., Responsive Classroom, MTSS, Universal Design for Learning)
Knowledge of best practices in math and science
Work as a team member to co-plan & teach
Knowledge of outdoor classroom practices
Deep understanding of need for social and emotional learning
Cultivate a trauma sensitive classroom
Integrate technology into the learning environment
Communicate and collaborate with parents and community members
Utilize formative assessment to provide student feedback and to adjust lesson delivery
Demonstrate excellent teaching, organizational, planning, written and oral communication, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
Interact respectfully and collegially with colleagues as part of collaborative teams
Maintain records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
Be a positive member of the middle level unit
Be willing to run the Trout in the Classroom program
Be a lifelong learner

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor degree Holds or is eligible to hold a Vermont Teaching License with appropriate endorsement Copies of transcripts and license(s) must be uploaded to the application for all licensed positions. Successful applicants to Licensed positions will be required to provide official transcripts to Human Resources before completion of the hiring process. Preferences: Middle School Licensure with dual endorsement from VT AOE Licensure

    The Bennington-Rutland Supervisory Union (BRSU) is a public school system located in southwestern Vermont. The BRSU includes school districts in four Vermont counties and three Vermont technical center regions. The BRSU is the second largest Vermont supervisory union with a total area of approximately 460 square miles. In 2018, BRSU districts have a total combined enrollment of 2,200 students.

    A unique feature of the BRSU is that none of its districts operates a high school. All BRSU districts have high school choice. BRSU districts send students to over 30 public and independent high schools with a large number of BRSU students choosing to attend Burr and Burton Academy in Manchester, VT.
