This is a 12-month position specializing in supporting special education teachers in a school-based positive behavior support program for students with emotional and behavioral disorders. This position is on assignment in the Reading School District within the elementary and secondary Emotional Support classrooms. The function of the Special Education Program Coach include supporting teachers with professional development through direct training and coaching, with a goal of increasing student engagement, academic performance, and social-emotional-behavioral wellness. The Special Education Program Coach will provide training and coaching to support educational staff with (a) identifying and implementing academic instruction including lesson planning and assessments and making data-based decisions to inform instruction; (b) classroom management strategies informed by applied behavior analysis and positive behavioral interventions and supports; (c) IEP compliance including writing, development, attending meetings, implementation, and progress monitoring; and (d) orientation to the program including technology, procedures, instruction, and emotional support programming. The Special Education Program Coach will work collaboratively with the educational staff and emotional support program leadership team to ensure services and documents are compliant with federal and state laws, Reading School District and Devereux regulations and policies, and best practices within the field. The Special Education Program Coach will maintain clear communication with Devereux supervisors, including participating in the Devereux emotional support program leadership meetings.Maintains certification and meets all learning requirements

Qualifications

EDUCATION: Master's degree in Special Education or Educational Leadership required. PA Department of Education Instructional II Certification in Special Education required. Supervisor of Special education certification completed, in progress, or interest in pursuing.

EXPERIENCE: Successful teaching experience working with students with emotional and behavioral challenges, experience in lesson planning, experience in writing and implementing legally defensible IEPs, experiencing in administration of assessments and using data informed decision making. Minimum of five years of experience preferred.
