Summary of position: The Educational Coordinator will serve as a member of the Walker Beacon School administrative team with primary oversight for all educational services at the school in keeping with DESE requirements as well as agency standards and philosophy. The Educational Coordinator will provide leadership within the school program regarding all areas of curriculum and assessment, including curriculum development, instructional practices, accommodations and modifications; coordinate curriculum materials and supplies; assist in training school staff regarding issues of curriculum and program development; assist in teacher hiring, orientation, and professional development; work with school leadership team to develop calendar for school-wide events, special programs, and assemblies; work with other supervisors to ensure that the physical appearance of the school buildings reflects the values and programming of the school; work in close cooperation with the multidisciplinary team to ensure alignment and consistency in treatment and programming.

Education and Licensure

Required: Master's Degree Massachusetts Educator Licensure in Moderate Special Needs 5-12 or Special Education Administrator.

Experience
Required: 3-5 years special education teaching experience with similar population
Previous supervisory/administrative experience

Essential functions:
1. Provide leadership within the school program regarding all areas of curriculum and assessment, including curriculum development, instructional practices, accommodations and modifications in accordance with MA Curriculum Frameworks and individual student IEPs.
2. Coordinate curriculum materials and supplies.
3. Together with Walker Beacon's educational leaders, assist in training school staff regarding issues of curriculum and program development.
4. Together with the Walker Beacon's educational leaders, assist in teacher hiring, orientation, and professional development.
5. Collaborate with school leadership team to develop calendar for school-wide events, special programs, and assemblies.
6. Oversight of academic support ("Guided study") classes, including teachers, students and program of academic supports.
7. Conduct educational assessments as needed for 3-year re-evaluations and extended evaluations. Write reports that share observations, as well as results of testing and recommendations (Summary of Extended Evaluation; Educational Assessments).
8. Responsible for assuring that proper formative and summative assessments and data collection are being gathered, in order to inform academic, counseling and transition goals and objectives on behalf of the students.
9. Work with teachers to write IEPs (and educational assessments when indicated), and prepare teachers to present at meetings.
10.Chair all annual, re-evaluation and progress IEP meetings.
11. Work with other supervisors to ensure that the physical appearance of the school buildings reflects the values and programming of the school.
12. Work in close cooperation with the management team to ensure alignment and consistency in treatment and programming.
