JOB DESCRIPTION:

Arlington Public Schools (APS) requires all employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 unless a medical or religious exemption is approved. Being fully vaccinated means that an individual is at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen (i.e. Pfizer, Moderna, and/or Johnson and Johnson). As a condition of employment, newly hired employees will be required to provide proof of their COVID-19 vaccination.

Virtual Training and On-site Orientation Required: June 28 & 29, 2023

Program Dates: July 5 - August 1, 2023 - Must be able to work all days or find a job share prior to accepting a contract

JULY 3, 2023 is not a work day for Summer School staff

Summer assignments will be staffed based on student needs.

This position is eligible for a $2,000 summer school T-scale bonus. This bonus will only be provided to current Arlington Public Schools (APS) employees. Employees must be in good standing in their current position for the 2022-23 school year and intend to return to APS for the 2023-24 school year. RESPONSIBILITIES:

● Plan, organize, implement appropriate instruction based on student's IEP goals
● Adapt instruction, assignments and curriculum depending on the needs of the students
● Collect data on student critical life skill goals
● Provide accommodations and modifications for students as needed
● Working collaboratively with school staff, student services staff, and families
● Plan and organize activities to be carried out by an assistant if assigned

EXPERIENCE:

● Teaching students with disabilities
● Working with a variety of ability /grade levels (classes are multi-graded)

QUALIFICATIONS:

● Must hold a valid license (or provisional license) in special education
● Knowledge of best practices and experience teaching students with disabilities
● Knowledge of the academic, social, and emotional needs of students with disabilities

SALARY:
Summer School Teachers who are APS employees during the year will be paid the Non-VRS equivalant rate. ( Please note Salary earned relative to summer school employment will not be included in the employee's creditable compensation amount reported to the Virginia Retirement System (VRS).) Retired APS teachers will be paid $47.73 per hour per APS pay plan.Non-APS licensed summer school teachers will be paid $32.50 per hour. If you resign effective the last day of the school year, you will receive a flat rate of $32.50 per hour for teachers. Pay Plan 22/23 SY (Page 50)
