QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor's Degree and certification to teach the appropriate subject area as required by the Pennsylvania Department of Education or other acceptable alternative credentials. Experience in instructional design and/or virtual learning preferred. Must possess current, valid Act 34, Act 114 and Act 151 clearances as well as completed and acceptable Act 168 background checks.

OBJECTIVE: To provide virtual/distance learning instructional services to students in the area of world language and other subject areas as needed. To deliver virtual/blended instruction utilizing innovative instructional strategies and resources.

FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

A Virtual Learning Facilitator is a certified professional who is trained in Learning Management Systems (LMS) and the teaching of their subject areas. The Virtual Learning Facilitator will instruct and advise students enrolled in the WOL Institute through a virtual, non-traditional medium.
  • Deliver online/virtual/cyber instruction in the assigned subject.


  • Collaborate on and/or assist with the design of virtual and hybrid subject specific courses.


  • Complete professional development and demonstrate competency with specified Learning Management Systems and LIVE remote interaction software.


  • Assist with instructional design and development.


  • Assist with multimedia design and development in the specified formats.
  • Plan and coordinate student assessments.


  • Accurately and timely report student data/grades.


  • Deliver standards-aligned, research-based instruction, including rubrics, assessments, etc.


  • Implement innovative teaching and learning strategies in the virtual environment.


  • Provide virtual instruction services to students.
  • Serve as a resource to help students use technology to customize their learning and/or learning environment.


  • Assume any other responsibilities as assigned by the Virtual Learning Specialist and Supervisor of World of Learning.
IU8 may change the description, as jobs are analyzed and modified.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

In the course of performing the duties and functions of Virtual Learning Facilitator the holder of the position will be required to frequently stand, walk, sit, squat/stoop, reach and lift items of varying weights.

MENTAL DEMANDS

Must be adept in operating a computer; be able to work independently and follow-through to completion of assigned tasks; prioritize and manage multiple tasks; interpret, analyze and problem solve in all areas of assigned responsibilities. Must be able to converse and interact with individuals with diverse levels of education and abilities. Must be able to read and understand documents relating to federal, state and local mandates as well as complex documents relating to education.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Upon hire, all new employees must obtain a certificate of medial examination as well as a tuberculosis test as required under Chapter 14 of the Public School Code, 24 P.S. §§14-1416, 14-1418; 22 Pa Code §49.12(b) (regarding education); and 28 Pa Code §23.44 (regarding health and safety).
