The Birch Agency is actively seeking to hire a Certified Occupational Therapist for the upcoming school year. This job is part-time (20-30 hours per week) and is for a steady 25 hours to start per work for the remainder of 2022 school year. Then, the following year, 30 hours per week for the upcoming school year too.

Job specifics

COTA must have recent work experience and is familiar with treating students with occupational therapy disabilities in a classroom setting. School-based experience is preferred but not required. This Assistant will work under the supervision and guidance of the licensed Occupational Therapist.

Required Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in Occupational Therapy Assistant from an American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) or the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) certified school.
• Active Virginia Carolina Occupational Therapy Assistant license.
• Active Virginia Board of Occupational Therapists (NBCOT) - COTA examination.

Job Specifics

• Perform general assistant occupational therapy duties to the students.
• Work 1:1 and/or in a group setting with students.
• Encourage OT handwriting activities.
• Assist the students with daily learning and living skills, if needed.
• Follow the guidance and direct of the licensed OT/R
• Help special needs students with classwork and/or assignments.
• Perform various pediatric occupational therapy duties with the students.
• North Carolina state, federal, and local rules and regulations.
