Job Title: Work - Based Learning Coordinator

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develops and submits a timeline of implementation of new Work-Based Learning programs to the Office of Career and Technical Education.

  • Assists site coordinators in development of building level informational meetings concerning the diploma endorsement requirements

  • Implements a monitoring/follow-up process for new/current work-based learning programs and articulated courses.

  • Coordinates with the Office of Career and Technical Education in the development and implementation of Work-based learning that meets the 90- hours required by Diploma Endorsements (i.e., cooperative education, school- based enterprises, simulations, internships, clinicals, etc.)

  • Prepares articulation agreements with post-secondary institutions (i.e., BRCC, LSU, SUBR, LTC, and SELU) and assists with implementation of agreed standards.

  • Designs professional development training for teachers to receive industry-based certifications.

  • Identifies and recruits business/employer partners to assist with 90-hours of work- based learning requirements.

  • Implements/monitors/evaluates WorkKeys Program.

  • Develops and presents organizational/planning meetings for employers for activities on and off school sites.

  • Meets with teachers and employers to discuss development of worksite learning plans, expectations, rules and regulations, and culture of specific worksites for the 90-hour work learning requirement.

  • Works with EBRP Director of Communications to disseminate information about Work - Based Learning programs.

  • Works closely with CATE Instructional Program Manager with those responsibilities, as it relates to. Work - Based Learning programs

  • Develops, disseminates, and receives correspondence and communications from site coordinators, students, parents and employers

  • Conducts an evaluation of the programs/activities with all participants, aggregates data, and submits to the Office of Career and Technical Education

  • Initiates appropriate procedures to ensure students are


awarded correct units of Carnegie credit and industry-based certification
  • Conducts post-program correspondence with participants to include letters of appreciation

Qualifications:
The essential functions for the position of Workbased Learning Coordinator include the physical and mental involvement requirements noted in this position description in addition to regular reliable attendance given the limited number of employees available to perform the essential functions of this position. It is also essential that the Workbased Learning Coordinator be able to follow the directives of superiors in ensuring the harmonious operation of the department.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree preferred. Secondary Career and Technical Education certification, or Guidance and Counseling, or Supervision of Instruction - all with five years successful teaching experience OR five years or more of Workforce Development experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or the school board.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree required in Guidance and Counseling or Supervision of Instruction, from an accredited college or university. Masters degree preferred.

Work Environment Conditions:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee will work in a climate-controlled environment adhering to School Board energy policy and in the outside areas,

which are subject to climate extremes. Workday consists of traditional Central Office hours.
