Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS), the nation’s 11th largest school division, located in the Washington D.C. region, is seeking a dynamic new principal for Hayfield Secondary School.

Hayfield is one of three secondary schools in FCPS that combines middle and high school. With over 300 dedicated staff members serving more than 3,100 students. The diverse student population at Hayfield is a mix of nationalities and the school serves the educational needs of a broad spectrum of students, including those with learning disabilities, second language learners, and twice exceptional students. It offers a variety of challenging and specialized academic programs that enrich the standard FCPS curriculum offerings.

The Middle School offers a variety of opportunities for students through Advanced Academic and Honors courses and through the Advancing Via Individual Determination (AVID) Program. The middle school curriculum and philosophy promote lifelong learning and a sense of community by balancing academic studies, physical and health education, and fine and practical arts experiences in a nurturing environment. The high school faculty mentor and guide Hayfield's young people through a variety of experiences including more than 50 clubs and organizations, Virginia High School League athletic opportunities, and advanced studies in AP College Board coursework as well as JROTC (Junior Reserve Office Training Corps).

The principal directs and is accountable for the planning, assessment, instructional leadership, human resources, communication, community relations, finance and safety and administrative management required to manage the instructional and special programs, organization, and facilities of Hayfield Secondary School.

Qualifications: Postgraduate Professional License with endorsements in administration and supervision preK-12, plus seven years of progressively more responsible experience in teaching and administration or supervision, with a minimum of three years administrative experience.
