POSITION SUMMARY
The Data Strategist (Equity) (DSE) will be responsible for collecting, producing, and disaggregating quantitative and qualitative data sets based on categorizations such as race, class, and gender. The EDS will report information to the Office of Equity team members, senior leaders, schools, parents, and other stakeholder groups. The Equity Data Strategist will also assist in developing, monitoring, managing, and presenting the District's strategic priorities and progress regarding equity initiatives. The EDS will design and implement data collection and reporting systems to continuously enhance the quality and breadth of data-informed decisions and communications for the Office of Equity.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Lead the development District's equity scorecard; meet with stakeholders to select measurable and improvement-oriented metrics and goals, record and advise on strategies for achieving goals, and manage the tracking and reporting of indicators including financial metrics.
- Work in partnership with the District's Data + Information Group to collect, analyze, and evaluate relevant metrics.
- Develop meta-analyses of quantitative and qualitative data as assigned.
- Compose sophisticated data presentations that highlight patterns and offer multiple interpretations.
- Analyze APS and 3rd party data related to equity priorities, handle data requests and special analyses, and provide data and reports to requesting parties.
- Lead data collection and analysis of equity audits and assessments.
- Advise the Equity Office and other teams of possible high-level focus areas and recommend strategies for addressing patterns and issues identified.
- Assist Chief Equity and Social Justice Officer in communicating applicable metrics and outcomes to internal and external stakeholders.
- Engage in capacity building with internal staff around data interpretation, analysis and use to inform practice and strategy.
- Collaborate with district data strategists and related positions to producing comprehensive datasets.
- Assist in determining key future analyses and metrics based on findings from external research, literature reviews, and collaboration with external partners.
- Serve as the initial point of contact for equity data inquiries and triage issues to resolve them immediately and/or direct them to the appropriate staff in a timely manner.
- Support all aspects of compliance and regulation for the Office of Equity & Social Justice.
- Develop and maintains electronic records of data and data systems for correspondence and office reports.
- Perform additional data analyses as requested by senior leadership and other APS departments.
- Required to have prompt, regular attendance in-person or virtually and be available to work on-site, in-person during regular business hours, and as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned by an appropriate administrator or their representative.

Requirements :
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Technology, Economics, Statistics, Operations Research, Data Analytics, Public Policy, Public Administration, Social Science, or related field
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:
- Project management or data analytics certifications preferred (e.g., SAS, SSRS, PMP, or PMI certifications)
WORK EXPERIENCE:
- 3 years of experience designing user interfaces (i.e., reports and dashboards) and conducting data analysis and reporting
- Experience with SAS, SQL, or Microsoft Power BI
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
- Demonstrated ability to examine, synthesize and develop reports on comprehensive datasets to stakeholders and facilitate conversations and professional learning about data
- Knowledge of critical issues in education and understanding of educator performance data
- Ability to communicate effectively across mediums to a range of internal and external audiences
- Ability to communicate data and methodological details clearly and accurately to non-technical audiences orally and in writing
- Strong analytic and data management skills, including the ability to combine complex data sets, identify and conduct appropriate analyses
- Strategic thinker able to generate actionable insights and make recommendations to leaders to improve organizational practices
- A wide knowledge and understanding of data collection methodologies, analysis, principles, and techniques
- Excellent report writing, analytical and project management skills, with a good attention to detail
- Ability to build trusting relationships and function effectively with internal departments, external partners, district leaders, and school-based staff
- Proficiency in Stata, R, Python or some other statistical programming language (i.e., Tableau; Redshift, Aginity, DataGrip, Amazon Web Services, AWS S3, etc.)
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of products, especially Excel
