  • JOB TITLE:
    Security Guard

    JOB GOAL:
    To assist in a supervisor capacity providing for security and protection of students, staff and property.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    1. High School Diploma or equivalent. College classes preferred in criminal justice or related field.
    2. Caring human relations skills; good written communications skills.
    3. Experience in working the public and youth.
    4. Neat appearance and good physical condition - must be on feet for long periods of time.
    5. Knowledge of Arizona laws pertaining to schools and youth preferred.
    6. Experience in law enforcement preferred.
    7. Knowledge of drugs and alcohol and their detection and effects.
    8. Must pass fingerprint and background clearance.

    TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 260 Days (12 Months)
    COMPENSATION: $15.82 - $18.67
    BENEFITS: As per District policy
    REPORTS TO: Principal
    HOURS: 40 hours per week
    CLASSIFICATION: Hourly, Non-exempt

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to, the following:
    1. Patrols district buildings and grounds to prevent substance abuse, fighting, theft, vandalism and illegal entry and exit.
    2. Learn names of individual students in order to assist with campus control.
    3. Confronts unauthorized persons for questioning; routes or detains them; calls police for assistance according to emergency action plan.
    4. Reports any unusual conditions or malfunctioning of heating, plumbing or electrical systems.
    5. Patrols school grounds to detect and require correction of unauthorized and improperly parked vehicles.
    6. Makes written reports of security violations.
    7. Directs and controls vehicle traffic on district property when necessary.
    8. Assist staff with student conduct.
    9. Serve as witness in a disciplinary due process hearing or court case as required.
    10. Performs other duties as assigned.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk for extended periods of time, as well as to talk and hear.     Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
