General Statement of Duties

Closing Date: This position closes on Monday, February 6, 2023 .
Performs secretarial work for the Commonwealth's Attorney's Office on one of the court teams (Circuit Court or Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court); does related work as required.

Essential Duties

Does administrative work in support of the Commonwealth's Attorney's Office, handling files in various stages of the legal process; knowledge of English grammar, punctuation and arithmetic; skill in typing; ability to read, spell, proofread; ability to file alphabetically, numerically and chronologically; skill in the use of a personal computer and knowledge of applications and commonly used business software; ability to maintain records and organize; ability to listen, understand and follow directions; ability to write legibly; ability to schedule and coordinate meetings and conferences; ability to interpret written material and to communicate verbally; ability to learn the policies and procedures of and the services provided by the division, section or program to which assigned; ability to verify data; accuracy; tact; good judgment; good telephone manners.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school and four (4) years of related clerical/secretarial experience; OR , any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Additional Information

Legal experience is preferred. Attention to detail, strong organizational skills and the ability to follow procedures as trained are required.
This position is expected to hire in or near the entry-level of the salary range.
Two (2) positions are available with a preferred schedule of 7:30-4:00 p.m.
A criminal history record check and fingerprinting is conducted on all persons conditionally offered employment, including a conditional offer of initial employment, or a conditional offer to promote, demote, or laterally transfer an employee.
