** Hourly staff hired into this position will be eligible to be paid for 52 weeks, which includes pay for all days when school is not in session as designated on the school calendar. This includes holidays, school closures due to weather, & summer days outside of ESY. **

New Story Schools in New Cumberland is seeking a qualified Behavior Intervention Specialist who will work collaboratively with Special Education teachers and Behavior Analysts to provide verbal de-escalation and crisis management to the students. Staff will provide support to students with emotional and behavioral needs in the K-12 age range. Staff will work in a progressive environment that combines sound ABA practices with a child centered approach to face challenges while working amongst a seasoned behavior management team.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist with the implementation of the students Individualized Education Plan (IEP)
  • Implement effective de-escalation and crisis management techniques, includes appropriate response with verbal de-escalation and physical restraints when needed
  • Provide direct support to students displaying impulsive or physically aggressive behaviors to ensure the safety of the student and others
  • Assist students within the classroom/program setting during participation in special subjects such as Physical Education, vocational programs, and field trips.
  • Implement appropriate behavior management strategies and techniques as supervised by Behavior Analyst(s).
  • Observe/record data related to behavioral concerns to assess/monitor the progress of the student as needed
The ideal candidate must be competent in the following areas:

  • demonstrates moral and ethical decision making
As a part of the essential responsibilities of this position, the candidate will be required to:
  • lift/push/pull up to 65 pounds frequently
  • maintain physical comfort in times of prolonged sitting, standing, squatting
  • move in an agile manner
