We are looking for a senior software engineer to drive the development of Curriculum Services for the Carnegie Learning educational software platforms. The Curriculum Services team, part of our Platform Engineering group, is focused on solutions that enable teachers to organize and assign compelling, research-driven, personalized K-12 educational content. This role would also be responsible for building and maintaining integrations with several 3rd party resources, supporting a variety of assignments to our community.

  • Design, develop, and test software projects
  • Work closely with the team of junior to principal level developers, including technical mentorship for junior developers
  • Work closely with the Product and Quality Assurance teams to assure we are building the right solutions for the right problems
  • Work on problems of diverse scope requiring analysis of sometimes complex contributing factors to quickly diagnose root causes and solve them
  • Plan and execute work following an agile scrum process
  • Outstanding software design skills with the ability to deep dive into the code and algorithms
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Drive for continuous improvement
  • Experience in a multi-product, multi-application development environment
  • Ability to provide and receive constructive feedback amongst peers
  • 4+ years of software engineering experience with a progression of increasing scope and complexity of work
  • Bachelor's degree in software engineering related field or equivalent experience
  • Experience and technical adeptness in object-oriented architecture, design, and implementation
  • Extensive experience building scalable REST APIs with the ability to debug high traffic microservices
  • Comfortable navigating and troubleshooting data issues in MySQL or MongoDB
  • Nice-to-haves
    • Strong TypeScript and Angular skills
    • Experience working with Educational products
