Essential Functions and Objectives:

Responsible for maintaining the operational and transactional responsibilities of the department. Manages the coordination of day to day activities of a specific business function. Primary emphasis is achieving results by building engagement and empowering their teams. May have exposure for district wide initiatives.

M anage and work with respective teams to implement policies, procedures, programs and initiatives that pertain to school counseling. Set clear goals, organize work plans, and divide work accordingly. Assure adherence to daily operational items, such as budgets, schedules and performance.

- S ets clear annual goals aligned to the strategic plan with measurable interim benchmarks.

- E valuates counselor progress towards goals and considers impact across functions, in both rubric and rigorous SLOs.

- M otivates employees and engages them in a common mindset and messages. - - Direct management. Applies deep knowledge in content and process. Drives improvements.

- A pplies staff performance management systems in a way that ensures a culture of continuous improvement, support and accountability.

- D elivers results towards established goals through direct management of 3+ school counselors.

- I dentifies and measures meaningful outcomes and ensures team delivers against expectations for customer service excellence.

- A ligns counselors and resources to achieve results, improve practices.

- C ompletes required evaluation for state or federal entities.

- I mproves team performance. Builds high performing teams. Ensures conflict is productive.

- I mproves performance through coaching, feedback, training, and stretch opportunities for each school counselor.

- E ngages in effective performance management practices, including collaboration with building leadership.

- D emonstrates empathy and builds trust into team culture.

- S olicits diverse perspectives. Creates connections. Ensures equity.

- E nsures decisions and actions actively address equity within each school.

- B uilds strong collaborative relationships across DPS schools, counselors, and district departments.

- R egularly solicits diverse points of view to dismantle white supremacy cultures. - Actively advocates for members of the school community and effectively engages family and community.

Knowledge, Experience & Other Qualifications :

- Two (2) or more years of experience in School Counseling is required.
- Two (2) or more years of experience in Supervision is required.

- Two (2) or more years of management responsibility experience is required.

- Current license in School Counseling from the Colorado Department of Education is required.

- Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations.

- Strong organizational and analytic skills and strong attention to detail.

- Self-starter/leader who can anticipate department needs in a proactive (versus, reactive) manner.

- Ability to develop and interpret data and manage resources.

- Ability to motivate and influence others.

- Ability to effectively lead a team.

- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office products and Google Suite.

- Ability to multi-task and juggle management of several high-priority projects in parallel.

- High degree of integrity in handling confidential information.

- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, including the ability to lead a high-performing team.

- Ability to coordinate and work effectively with site staff and diverse student population.

- Ability to monitor and supervise assigned student activity for sustained periods of time to anticipate and maintain safe environment.

- Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing.

Education Requirements:

Master's Degree in School Counseling is required.
