Professional Learning Consultant (Part-time)

NWEA® has a need for Professional Learning Consultants. These essential and exciting roles are part-time. With your blend of skills, experience, and passion for education coupled with a robust onboard training and continuous development plan, you'll be fully prepared and equipped to meet and exceed the demands of the role and high expectations of our partner schools. The positions have high delivery volumes in September, October, November, and possibly, January, April, and May. These roles require a blend of virtual/remote and on-site workshop delivery so versatility in skill sets and the ability to travel by airplane, car or other modes of public transportation are necessary. The daily rate for each full day on-site workshop will be $700 per day. Hourly rates apply to any virtual/remote delivery. About this role...

Professional Learning Consultants deliver high quality, engaging workshops focused on NWEA's MAP adaptive assessments and other highly relevant content and impactful solutions for NWEA partners. They empower teachers and administrators to effectively use data to promote student learning by defining growth targets, differentiating instruction, and informing intervention strategies and more. Facilitators are on the front lines with key educational stakeholders, directly supporting NWEA's mission: Partnering to help all kids learn. NWEA's assessment data is a powerful tool to improve student learning and requires dynamic individuals to help interpret, train, and inspire partner district teachers to use this data effectively.

Your next challenge...

  • Facilitate professional learning workshops for partners as they implement NWEA's products and services; use adult learning strategies and other inquiry-based activities to ensure participant engagement, understanding of content and application of material learned to their work
  • Attain and maintain NWEA qualification status in designated workshops by participating in required online and/or in-person learning events and completing necessary coursework
  • Conduct planning conversations about the events with partners relative to professional development needs
  • Facilitate professional learning content effectively and accurately, gauging the learners' needs.
  • Work collaboratively with the Manager of Professional Learning Services to ensure delivery of successful professional learning events
  • Travel as necessary; expenses reimbursed by NWEA
  • Submit appropriate documentation and reports within specified timeframes

Traits for Success...
  • Strong facilitation skills and experience conducting professional learning opportunities to a wide audience of professionals. Professional Learning Facilitators are not merely delivering a canned presentation; they engage the audience with enthusiasm, discussion, and hands-on adult learning approaches
  • Experience working with educators in the use of formative assessment
  • Experience supporting schools/districts in the school improvement process
  • Experience with NWEA products and services highly preferred
  • Excellent writing, proofreading, organization, communication, and technology skills (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Word)
  • Comfort with online learning and delivery modalities. Examples include webinars, virtual collaborative workspaces, wikis, web-conferences, learning in an online classroom, and learning management systems
  • Strong problem-solving skills, situational awareness, and sound judgment to adapt professional learning opportunities to changing environments and partner needs
  • Ability to collaborate with partners and staff to develop supportive relationships
  • Seamless use and navigation of technology in the workshop setting (including projectors, Zoom-type applications, file download, Microsoft Office programs, etc.)

Education and experience...

  • Bachelor's degree in Education required
  • Master's degree in Education is preferred
  • Minimum 2 years' experience teaching adult learners is preferred
  • Minimum 2 years' experience of classroom teaching or administration (in K-12) is required
  • Experience in guiding educators in use of data (preferred)
  • Experience using formative assessment practices and strategies (preferred)
  • Experience with NWEA products and services (preferred)
  • Formal educational training beyond college in formative assessment or coaching (preferred)
  • Experience in any of the following areas (preferred):
    • Early Literacy
    • Spanish, ELL, ESL, EAL
    • High School Reading, Math or Science
    • District/Executive Level Leadership
    • School Improvement
    • Instructional Coaching
    • Social Emotional Learning
    • Culturally Responsive Leadership
