PRIMARY FUNCTION: This position is responsible for developing and implementing a multifaceted set of programs and instructional activities to build the capacity of the school and teachers to meet the learning needs and achievement of all students. This position is must also remain knowledgeable about current and past research and research best practices in the field of education.

SALARY SCHEDULE: Teacher
WORK DAYS: 200

REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Educational Level: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university Preferred: Advanced degree(s)
  2. Experience, Skill and Certification: Valid Georgia Teaching Certificate in the assigned teaching field Certification in English 6-12.
  3. Three or more years of successful experience teaching
  4. Ability to collect, analyze, and use student achievement data to develop and enhance the curriculum
  5. Excellent skills in oral and written communication, interpersonal relations, team leadership, problem solving, organization, critical thinking, and project management
  6. Ability to design and deliver (individually or in collaboration with others) high quality training for teachers/school staff
  7. In-depth knowledge of Georgia Standards of Excellence and frameworks for high school
  8. Skills in implementing standards-based instruction
  9. Experience in research-based instructional practices that lead to increased student achievement
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Works collaboratively with teachers, other instructional staff, administrators, School Leadership team, community members, and any other relevant service providers to analyze formative assessment data and ensure maximum use of all educational resources to improve student achievement.
  • Provides/facilitates high quality, on-going professional development on instructional practices that will produce proficient learners. Training vehicles should include but are not limited to: in-class coaching, peer observing and/or modeling; guiding teachers in looking at student work; and developing data driven lesson plans and goals with teachers.
  • Provides feedback to teachers, administrators, and the district concerning the academic program at the school.
  • Monitors teachers on the implementation and effectiveness of tools and strategies gained through professional development, district initiatives, and on the use of technology in classroom instruction.
  • Assists teachers in the use of the Common Core Georgia Performance Standards and frameworks to organize the curriculum, ensure rigorous performance tasks are used in classrooms, and create common assessments.
  • Selects, orders, and organizes materials.
  • Fulfills other duties as assigned by the principal.
Terms of Employment
Incumbents will receive an annual contract. The work calendar will be 200 days. Salary will be determined based on level of certification and allowable experience. Incumbent will be expected to work during the summer, as necessary, for supplemental pay. Incumbent will also be required to travel overnight for professional development and training.
This position is funded through Title I programs and is contingent on availability of funds.

OFFICE Employees in this category are normally exposed to a typical environment. The employee has some control over the length of time sitting, standing, or ambulating. There are occasions that require the lifting or pulling of equipment or supplies, as well as bending, stooping, or stretching. There is frequent use of computers, telephone, and other standard office equipment, which includes reading, listening, writing, or speaking. There are few exceptional physical or sensory demands.

There will be occasions when the employee will model teaching concepts and, therefore, will be subject to the requirements noted in CLASSROOM, above.
