POSITION SUMMARY
The Adult Education Coordinator provides direction and leadership for the overall administration and coordination of Adult Education Programs in Atlanta Public Schools. This work is carried out in compliance with Atlanta Public Schools, state and federal guidelines.

Vision: Ability to read small print and view a computer screen for prolonged periods.

Speech: Ability to be understood in face-to-face communications, to speak with a level of proficiency and volume to be understood over a telephone or computer.
Upper Body Mobility: Ability to use hands to grasp, and manipulate small objects; manipulate fingers, twist and bend at wrist and elbow; extend arms to reach outward and upward; use hands and arms to lift objects; turn, raise, and lower head.
Strength: Ability to lift, push, pull and/or carry objects which weigh as much as 5 or more pounds on a frequent basis. Incumbent may be required to physically restrain parties involved in a conflict.
Environmental Requirements: Ability to encounter constant work interruptions; work cooperatively with others; work independently; work indoors.
Mental Requirements: Ability to read, write, understand, interpret and apply information at a moderately complex level essential for successful job performance; math skills at a high school proficiency level; judgement and the ability to process information quickly; learn quickly and follow verbal procedures and standards; give verbal instruction; rank tasks in order of importance; copy, compare, compile and coordinate information and records. Understand how to manage stress.

POSITION SUMMARY

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Responsible for the day to day operations of the Adult Education Program including students and
- Responsible for establishing Adult Education classes for Atlanta Public Schools in public and private nonprofit organizations in Atlanta and Fulton County.
- Responsible for staff assigned to classes in Adult Education Programs in Atlanta and Fulton
- Responsible for students that are enrolled in the Adult Education
- Plan and organize Adult Education
- Recommend qualified staff for
- Working with public and private agencies in carrying out
- Writes the grant proposals for Adult Education Programs for annual
- Plans and implements staff development programs for all Adult Education
- Develop a working knowledge of the state database (GALIS).
- Using the database to monitor classes, enrollments and program
- Ensures that all staff members are trained to use the state database (GALIS).
- Receives and distribute annual updates for the state information system (GALIS).
- Maintains all programmatic and administrative data for Atlanta Schools Adult Education
- Provides orientation of personnel on operational procedures and program procedures; including time and attendance, students' attendance records and requisition of instructional materials.
- Attends state and local meetings directly related to implementation of the
- Visit all locations before classes are established to ensure that conditions are conducive for
- Submits monthly, quarterly and annual reports as required by system and funding
- Required to have prompt, regular attendance in-person and be available to work on-site, in-person during regular business hours.
- Performs other duties as assigned by an appropriate administrator or their representative.

Requirements :
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
- Master's Degree in Education or related field required.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:
- Georgia Teaching, Leadership or Service certification.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
- 3 years of secondary teaching experience required including experience with teaching Advanced Placement (AP) courses, and/or in a Magnet or International Baccalaureate setting.
- Experience with curriculum development and revision, and professional staff
- Experience working in a large K-12
- Supervisory experience preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & AILITIES:
- Ability to effectively direct, plan, implement and evaluate programs in a school-based
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead people and provide
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff and the public from diverse cultural, social, economic, and educational backgrounds.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to a diverse workplace through ideas and
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as software applications relevant to area of responsibility.
