Job Details

Collier County, Florida
Collier County is situated in southwest Florida along the beautiful Gulf of Mexico and inland through the Everglades.  The county is named after Barron Collier.  Early in the 20th Century, after seeing an opportunity to leave a legacy in an area he loved, Collier offered to fund the construction of the Tamiami Trail through the swamps of the Everglades in exchange for a new county to be formed and named in his honor. On May 8th, 1923, Collier County was officially partitioned from Lee County by the Florida State Legislature. The Town of Everglades (now Everglades City) was the original county seat. Today, Collier County encompasses 2,305 square miles of land. It is the second largest county by size in the state of Florida (behind Palm Beach County). In 1962 the county seat was moved to East Naples.*
Collier County Public Schools**

The School District of Collier County serves 48,000 total students in 31 elementary schools, 10 middle schools, 8 high schools, 1 virtual school, and a PreK-12 school (Everglades City School). There are also 13 Alternative School Programs. The district’s two technical colleges (Lorenzo Walker Technical College and Immokalee Technical College) and adult education programs (located at several sites throughout the district) offer students both short- and long-term programs. The mission of the district is to ensure that all students will complete school prepared for ongoing learning, as well as community and global responsibilities by providing exceptional educational opportunities that motivate and engage each student.

  • The school board and superintendent must create and maintain a relationship that is collaborative and trusting, in which all parties have a clear understanding and respect of roles and are working toward shared goals
  • Effective, collaborative work with the community will produce success for students
  • We must base all of our decisions on evidence and the best interest of students
  • We have the ability to meet all state and federal government requirements
