    POSITION: CTE-Teacher CAD/Architecture/Building Science
    LOCATION: Adams City High School
    Projected Start Date: July 24, 2023
    SUMMARY: This teaching position is designed to instruct students wanting to complete a two-year AAS Degree in Architectural & Building Science and their High School Diploma at the same time. Students explore construction and drafting concepts and techniques, materials, and overall building design. This degree prepares students for a career as an architectural CAD drafting technician for architectural design and construction firms, governmental entities, large corporations, and manufacturers/suppliers or building products. It is a comprehensive two-year study in architectural drafting, elementary design, and building science.

    • The school professional adheres to Colorado State law and District School Board policy as it pertains to responsibilities of school staff.
    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Must have a minimum three years of verified paid work experience within the last five years as an architect, general contractor in residential and/or commercial building design, or as a CAD drafting technician.
    • Bachelor's Degree minimum required.
    • Must hold or be eligible to work toward and receive a Colorado Secondary CTE Architecture and Construction credential by August 1, 2021 as determined by the Colorado Department of Education.
    • The work schedule for this position is a traditional school year with occasional evening or weekend responsibilities based on the needs of the partner agencies including organizing a student organization (CTSO) and a local industry liaison committee.
    EXPERIENCE:
    • Have the ability and experience in working with teams. Must have experience communicating and working with colleagues and support staff on a continual basis and coordinating activities with other members/staff of an organization.
    • Must be able to communicate effectively in written and oral modes.
    • Computer experience including Microsoft Office suite, CAD software packages, and the Google Suite of products, etc., as they relate to the architecture and construction fields, and the teaching profession.
    RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Teach Architecture and Construction Design, teach CAD usage, techniques, and development, Teach the art and techniques in interpretation of blueprints, teach the vocabulary, language, and technical writing of the construction business, and teach project design, executing, and management.
    • Prepare tests, class projects and case studies; grades papers, average grades, prepare grade reports, and coordinate make-up tests and assignments.
    • Prepare lesson plans, prepare lectures, and assist with development and implementation of course syllabus and curriculum.
    • Select textbooks, videos, Internet activities and gather outside project materials.
    • Prepare attendance reports and administer attendance policy
    • Work on assigned committees, attend school-wide events, attend professional development conferences and maintain career and technical education certification, attend faculty meetings, and keep current with inventory and budget.
    • Must maintain industry standards and qualifications for community colleges and develop Career Technical Student Organizations (CTSO's)
    • Ability to collaborate with other Career and Technical Education instructors.
