SUPERVISOR:
Before and After School Director or designee.

SUMMARY:
Assists the director in planning and implementing the child care program and supervises staff.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assists the director in completing all requirements for child care; follows and enforces Rules Regulating School-Age Child Care Centers.
2. Follows and enforces all procedures as stated in CCSD ECS Procedures Manual.
3. Works directly with children during times they are present in the before and after school program.
4. Assists the director with program operations, planning, equipment, supplies, and safety.
5. Assists director to manage and direct child care program.
6. Assists the director with supervision of the child care program staff.
7. Exhibits excellent communication with parents, students, school and district staff, and coworkers.
8. Follows district policies and goals and uses district facilities with care.
9. May assist director with maintaining financial and program records in accordance with district procedure.
10. Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. The Before and After School Assistant Director must be age 21 or over. 2. Experience in a paid child care program, any para-educator experience, or any licensed teaching experience.
3. To qualify for the position, the assistant director must have completed at least one of the following:
a. A four-year college degree with such majors as recreation, outdoor education, education with a specialty in art, elementary or early childhood education, or a subject in the human services field.
b. Two (2) years of college (60 semester credits) training and 6 months (910 hours) of satisfactory and verifiable full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience, since attaining the age of 18, in the care and supervision of 4 or more unrelated school age children.
4. Verification of qualifications must be in the employee's Staff Records File.
5. Each year, June 1 through May 31, the assistant director must complete at least 15 clock-hours of training.
6. The assistant director must demonstrate an ability and interest in working with school age children.
7. Thorough and current knowledge of all aspects of childcare.
8. Strong leadership and management skill.
9. Excellent ability in problem solving and decision-making.
10. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
11. Computers skills.
12. Complete the department-approved course in Injury Prevention.
13. Complete the Department-approved course in playground safety for School-Aged Child Care Centers.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS:

1. Current First Aid and CPR certification or the ability to obtain within thirty (30) days.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

1. Occasional lifting, pulling, and/or pushing.
2. Moderate effort may be required to lift up to 25 pounds.

5. Squatting.
6. Working with others.
