Overview

The Senior Human Resource Manager is directly responsible for the overall administration, coordination, and evaluation of the Human Resource function. This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. This position would occasionally require extended hours and may require some weekend work. Travel if required, would be during the business hours to school locations. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.

Responsibilities

The Senior Human Resource Manager is directly responsible for the overall administration, coordination, and evaluation of the Human Resource function. Incumbent would develop and administer key human resources elements for Ascends employees. The Senior Human Resource Manager will:
  • Establish and maintain department records and reports; participate in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings, such as seminars; maintain organizational charts and employee directory
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws
  • Share expertise of federal, state, and local employment laws
  • Support teacher certification tracking and administration
  • Train staff and maintain Dayforce records
  • Support Total Rewards within the organization
  • Administer Workers compensation reports
  • Respond to Unemployment and other state agency forms, including employment verifications
  • Support and oversee new hire orientation and onboarding
  • Create and socialize dashboards and data suites to inform senior leadership of important trends and recommendations
  • Maintain accurate and up to date physical Human Resource files
  • Partner with the Finance team to ensure a strong, accurate HR to Payroll process
  • Perform benefits administration to include claims resolution and change reporting
  • Participate in developing department and systems
  • Create offer letters to not-for- profit candidates
  • Monitors the performance evaluation program and revises as necessary
  • Develop, recommend, and implement personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains handbook on policies and procedures
  • Evaluate reports, decisions, and results of department initiatives in relation to established goals; recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed
  • Maintain "office hours" at schools to provide HR support to directors of operations and school directors
  • Partner with the Senior HR Business partner to conduct onboarding and completes new hire process
  • Partner with the Senior HR Business partner to create and maintain HR Monthly newsletter
  • Partner with the Managing Director on key project and deliverables
  • Support and administer where necessary, employee health and wellness program
  • Support and guide junior employees with other work-related functions
  • Any other task and responsibilities as designed by management within the scope of work

The Human Resource Manager reports directly to the Managing Director of HR, with lateral report to the SrHRBP.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree and five years of human resource experience
  • A master's degree in human resource management or a SHRM- CP or PHR certification
  • Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft products
  • Business acumen
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

Compensation

Initial salary offers for this position range from $85,000 - $95,000 . Salaries are determined using an equitable compensation scale that accounts for years of experience and levels of attained education.
