Being a Teacher's Assistant at Devereux has it's advantages! As a Teacher's Assistant you will work with other dedicated professionals who share your passion for helping individuals in need. CARES is seeking a Teacher Assistant to provide direct behavioral intervention to students enrolled in the CARES school, in addition to serving as a primary lead staff to Instructional support staff (ISS). We offer an environment that is supportive, educational and clinically focused. This position will give you the opportunity to work directly with children diagnosed with Autism 1:1 within a structured classroom environment with Special Education Teachers, Behavior Analyst and Autism professionals. You will increase your knowledge and improve your skills related to behavior intervention, functional assessment and collaboration with a team that is inclusive and individualized.
Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health's Center for Autism Research and Educational Services (CARES) Program, located in Downingtown, PA serves up to 60 children, ages 5 through 21, with a confirmed primary diagnosis of Autism, Asperger's Syndrome, or Pervasive Developmental Disorder-Not Otherwise Specified (PDD/NOS).
Teacher Assistant responsibilities include :
- Assist in establishing classroom environments that is conducive to maximum learning by maintaining structure and guiding students to socially appropriate behaviors
- Responsible for the children's welfare, safety, and location at all times, including during arrival and dismissal
- Work with the Special Education Teachers to implement skill acquisition and behavioral reduction programs individually and in small groups
- Perform ongoing data collection and record keeping as directed by Special Education Teacher

Qualifications
This position requires a Bachelors degree in a related field and current assignment as an Instructional Coordinator/ISS at CARES.
{Devereux requires all individuals interviewing for a position involving contact with children to complete The Diana Screen, a screening that assesses a candidate's understanding of appropriate boundaries between adults and children}
