Essex Westford School District is seeking a Long-Term Substitute Preschool Teacher at Hiawatha Elementary School. This assignment is expected to start in April 2023 and go through the remainder of the 22/23 school year.

EWSD is committed to considering out-of-state candidates who are eligible to hold a Vermont educator license but do not yet hold a license in this state. Folks with experience working in another country and the ability to speak more than one language fluently, peace corp. experience, and/or otherworldly experience are encouraged to apply to help contribute to a diversity of thinking and grow our organizational practices.

We are seeking individuals with the following qualifications:
  • Hold (or be eligible to hold) a valid VT Educator license with an Early Childhood Special Education endorsement (0-80) is required. Individuals with an Early Childhood Education Endorsement (0-36) with the ability to obtain an Early Childhood Special Education endorsement (0-80) are also considered.
  • Knowledge and/or experience using "backward design" for lesson development, differentiated instruction to support all students, and formative assessment to provide student feedback and adjust lesson delivery
  • Excellent teaching, organizational, planning, written and oral communication, and collaboration skills
  • Commitment to the success of ALL students and ability to understand and teach to the various learning styles of students
  • The ability to effectively engage students at the preschool level
  • Effectively integrates social and emotional learning skills into the classroom environment.
