  License and Certification Qualifications: Valid Georgia Class C Driver's License required. Valid Commercial Driver?s License (CDL) preferred.

Education Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.

Experience Qualifications: Ten years experience in the logistics industry or a related field required.

Skills Qualifications: Ability to communicate with others in an effective and tactful manner; demonstrated skills in organization and problem solving; ability to work successfully with colleagues; ability to manage multiple priorities; strong human relations skills; knowledge of transportation safety guidelines and processes; ability to present in front of groups of audiences; ability to organize and prioritize projects; and ability to act as a representative of Gwinnett County Public Schools.

Primary Responsibilities: Provide world-class transportation services for students of Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) and provide guidance, resources, training, and management to front-line supervisors directly supporting students and schools.

I. Provide direct support, management, and leadership to Transportation Supervisors and staff within the transportation sector.
a. Manage staff performance through implementation of the GCPS performance management and evaluation framework.
b. Provide daily oversight and management of operations, extending front-line support to supervisors as needed.
c. Act as the main point of contact for all communication to the Transportation Supervisors, including operational changes, policy or procedure updates, and all downstream communication from district and transportation leadership.
d. Manage employee issues including tardiness, absenteeism, late call-outs, and employee relations disputes.

II. Manage transportation operations beginning-to-end within the assigned sector, including buses/fleet, schools supported, students and staff.
a. Ensure that Transportation Supervisors have all student transportation routes in the zone covered and that students will be delivered to school on time, providing support and assistance as needed.
b. Respond to and provide guidance on issues escalated by the zone Transportation Supervisor.
c. Provide framework and oversight to Transportation Supervisors, establishing parameters within which they can work independently to manage their zone operations.

III. Develop, sustain, and continuously reinforce a culture in which student safety is the highest priority.
a. Implement procedures to ensure Bus Managers safely operate vehicles and conduct all safety training with students and parents.
b. Monitor adherence to procedures and ensure that Transportation Supervisors are meeting expectations and regularly providing training and updates on safety standards to Bus Managers.

IV. Design processes to ensure subordinates execute daily functions at minimum cost and highest levels of safety.
a. Manage the continuous safety and quality improvement for all transportation services within the sector.
b. Regularly review transportation zone processes and procedures to identify areas of need and opportunities for improvement.
c. Utilize available data, reports and technology to identify areas for service improvement.

V. Train, develop and grow staff skills in leadership, resource management, time management, conflict management, motivation, and tact.
a. Assess each subordinate leader for needs and opportunities for leadership development.
b. Utilize a combination of modeling behaviors, formal training, and mentoring to accomplish duties.

VI. Equip Transportation Supervisors with the tools and resources that they need to be successful and to operate their zone at maximum efficiency.
a. Regularly meet with staff to discuss areas of need and to identify how support can best be provided.
b. Act as a liaison between front-line staff (Bus Managers and Transportation Supervisors) and transportation leadership, representing needs of the sector in a manner that is professional and effective, using facts and data to demonstrate need, as appropriate.

VII. Communicate clearly and effectively with staff members and interface with local school staff and administration, community members, law enforcement officials, and parents of GCPS students.
a. Support communication with local school staff and administration on transportation operations, including planning for upcoming school year operations and sharing updates or changes.
b. Manage escalated issues involving parents of GCPS students and/or community members, using de-escalation and problem solving skills to reach resolution as needed.
c. Communicate with law enforcement officials in the event of accidents or issues requiring their involvement, if needed.

VIII. Manage the expenses, both budgetary and operational, within the sector.
a. Manage mileage reimbursement for transportation staff.
b. Regularly review expenditures against budget to avoid over-spending and make adjustments as needed.
c. Ensure that budgeted funds adequately cover required expenses and if areas of need exist, present information to leadership in an effective manner.

IX. Ensure that the highest degree of customer service is provided to all customers and stakeholders, both internal and external.
a. Communicate with all parties in a businesslike, courteous, and efficient manner.
b. Represent the office professionally in all aspects of communication.
c. Cultivate a responsive and customer-centered climate.
d. Seek ways to be responsive to the needs of staff.

X. Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, negotiate stairs, climb ladders, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear, manipulate tools and small items with hands, and lift and transport up to 50 pounds over short distances. The employee is required to operate a motor vehicle in performance of duties. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision. The employee may be subjected to a wide range of ambient temperature and humidity conditions while working on equipment under varying conditions including overhead work and work in confined spaces. Potential hazards of this position include working with electricity, working with heat and noise producing machinery and equipment, working on elevated equipment using ladders or other lifting devices, and use of chemicals and solvents.
