The Essex Westford School District is seeking substitute teachers and paraeducators for all locations to work on an as-need basis. There are full-day and partial-day opportunities available. The ideal candidate can effectively manage student behavior, adhere to the teacher's lesson plans, and be flexible in their assignment based on school needs.

Candidates with the following qualifications are encouraged to apply:
  • Ability to handle stress and resolve conflicts
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Willingness to work on short notice to cover unexpected absences (e.g.: the morning of an absence)
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience is preferred but not required
Paid training and job shadowing are available for chosen candidates!

Substitute daily pay rate is:
  • Full day: $140
  • 3.5hr or less: $70
Candidates who are chosen to advance to the next evaluation round will receive an email asking them to provide references through the SkillSurvey system.

All selected applicants must complete EWSD Mandatory Training within 30 days of hire. These trainings are provided at no cost to employees and are expected to take a half-day to complete.
Substitutes will be paid $70 after completion (the standard half-day substitute teaching rate).
