Responsibilities
Planning
Maintain and execute a strategic plan for K-5 Montessori and coursework.
Communicate the strategic plan to stakeholders: teachers and Montessori leads; district leadership and administration; MLL, OTSS, SIS, AVID, MYP, TDAS, Personalized Learning, Equity, Content Specialists
Collaborate with SIS, MLL, OTS, AVID, MYP, TDAS, Equity, Personalized Learning, and Content Specialists to align, support, and integrate initiatives.
Meet with Assistant Superintendents to plan for principal professional development.
Curriculum Development and Writing for Montessori Programs
Developing, Leading, and Facilitating teacher collaboration with curriculum
Seamlessly embedding the unpacking of units within professional development and institute work.
Providing time and space for planning time, data analysis, and creation of resources and lessons that respond to student needs.
Maintaining a feedback loop for areas for curricular growth, alterations, or additions.
Leadership for Montessori Programs
Meet with Assistant Superintendents to align our initiatives and messages
Work with the elementary School team to align our initiatives and messages
Identify and support teacher leaders in Montessori programs
Create opportunities for Montessori teacher leaders to present district professional development
Identify classrooms to use as lab sites, model classrooms, and digital examples
Facilitate think tanks of Montessori teachers and leads to receive feedback and develop the ongoing social studies work
Publish biweekly "3 Things to Know" for all stakeholders
Participate in Learning Walks with SIS and Assistant Superintendents
Facilitate informal Classroom Visits and Learning Walks with site leaders
Develop practice profiles in collaboration with stakeholders to support site-based professional development
Develop and articulate SCIP strategies that reflect the district needs analysis and data trends
Maintain online presence via Schoology and Twitter to ensure communication is consistent and clear.
Professional Development and Alignment
District-Wide Montessori Professional Development and Collaboration
Building, District and/or JEPD, as requested
Participate in site professional development teams upon request
Facilitate Montessori Leads and Coach meetings for all Montessori schools when necessary
Develop Online Montessori courses to support the district Montessori initiatives
Develop practice profiles in collaboration with stakeholders to support site-based professional development
Develop and articulate SCIP strategies that reflect the district needs analysis and data trends
Coaching for Montessori Programs, Systems/Structures, and Approaches
Individual Teachers (Montessori and other Content Area Teachers)
Co-Teacher Teams
JEPD or Departments
Building Coaches and Leads/ "Coaching the Coach" Opportunities
Administrators- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- A valid K-5 or K-12 teaching license issued by the Minnesota Department of Education and seven years of teaching experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- A Master's degree or equivalent experience or training in leadership for curriculum and instruction. Montessori trained.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Considerable knowledge of the foundations of information processing and instruction, instructional strategies, and curriculum materials.
Considerable knowledge of creating a Montessori-rich environment.
Considerable knowledge of assessment, diagnosis, and evaluation.
Considerable knowledge of the impact of data, data collection and data interpretation to support classroom practice.
Working knowledge of how to use formative assessments at the classroom level. -Highly proficient communication skills and the ability to negotiate with multiple constituencies.
Strong leadership ability.
Considerable ability to utilize data to plan instruction and differentiate learning for staff and students.
Expertise in the research that supports the practices in the SPPS Achieves Strategic Plan.
