Employee Position: 1.0 High School Diploma Programme and College Credit Programming Coordinator (TOSA) at Southwest

Division/Site: College Credit Programming

Reports to: School Principal

Summary of Position

Provide instructional leadership in collaboration with the school's principal and ILT for the development and continuous improvement of college and career programs (IBDP, AP, Concurrent Enrollment/CIS and PSEO) at the school. Guide the school community to ensure all stakeholders understand requirements of the programs, graduation and post-secondary options. Advocate for increased student access and success in all college and career programs. Support the MPS Strategic Plan and School Improvement Plan with specific emphasis on equity in college and career programs, curriculum transformation (CTP), MTSS and professional development of staff aligned to these focus areas.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

  1. Minnesota Teaching or Counseling License
  2. Advanced degree in Educational Leadership or Curriculum preferred


Experience

  1. At least five years of effective instruction teaching a wide range of students from diverse backgrounds in an urban setting, grades 6-12.
  2. Experience leading or teaching around equity and/or curriculum transformation
  3. Teaching and/or leading college and career courses (IBDP/CP, Advanced Placement or concurrent enrollment/CIS)
  4. Experience leading and overseeing student exams in AP or IB programs
  5. Curriculum development, analysis and delivery using effective assessment strategies
  6. Experience leading professional development for teachers


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  1. Detailed understanding of the principles and practices of IB Diploma Program, Advanced Placement, Concurrent Enrollment/College in the Schools and Post-Secondary Education Options.
  2. Deep knowledge and understanding of equity issues facing students in MPS or public schools in MN
  3. Budget and project management skills.
  4. Strong student relationship (SEL) skills and experience in counseling students and adults around college level coursework and college and career planning
  5. Knowledge of scheduling and ability to manage complex schedules.
  6. Strong facilitation, change management and communication skills (both oral and written).
  7. Ability to collect, organize and analyze data for instructional and program improvement.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

General Coordination

  1. Participate as member of school Instructional Leadership Team.
  2. Develop accountability systems and practices at the school level to ensure growth and success of the Advanced Academic programs with a specific focus on increasing access and success for black and brown students in these programs
  3. Coordinate administration of all internal and external assessments.
  4. Coordinate and prepare stakeholders for program evaluations and site visits.
  5. Collaborate across all MPS schools to develop teacher leaders, build strong K-12 pathways and ensure curriculum alignment.
  6. Represent school & district at local, state, regional and national events and conferences.


Curriculum Review & Development

  1. Use student learning and assessment data to monitor and improve inquiry instruction and curriculum effectiveness.
  2. Collaborate with school's staff to ensure coherent program articulation and vertical teaming.
  3. Ensure teachers fully understand subject/course requirements and have a broader understanding of the programs as a whole.


Professional Development

  1. Develop, coordinate and monitor school collaboration and professional development plan to include required training, induction of new staff, PLC and individual teacher coaching support.
  2. Facilitate subject area and cross subject area collaboration to ensure vertical articulation between programs.


Guidance and Counseling of Students

  1. Assist students in making complex decisions regarding course selection.
  2. Collaborate with school counselors to ensure students maintain appropriate balance, course load, stress and suitability for entry into post-secondary options.


Accountability Measures

  1. Increase enrollment and success of students in college credit coursework as measured by end of course enrollment numbers, end of course students earning a passing grade of C- or higher, and IBDP/AP exam scores meeting college credit thresholds.
  2. Increase equity of enrollment and success in college credit coursework as measured by comparing the demographics (Race, Ethnicity, Gender, FRL) of the school to the demographics of enrollment and success in college credit coursework at the school.
  3. Increase college credit earning opportunities for all students as measured by college credit bearing courses offered at your school.


Physical Demands of the Position:

Ability to transport materials weighing 40 lbs to school sites

Ability to travel between school sites

Ability to work extended hours when necessary

SALARY: MFT Teacher Salary Schedule, 39 Weeks, with extended time as needed
