Job Title: Storekeeper
Department: Distribution Center
Pay Grade: S170
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Reports to: Director I - Purchasing & Distribution
GENERAL PURPOSE
The job of Storekeeper requires an organized and detail-oriented employee who will assist in providing support to all operations in our distribution center. In this position, you will play a key role in the proper care and maintenance of our inventory stock, including ordering, receiving and maintaining inventory as well as providing support with the movement of equipment and supplies to and from District buildings.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Maintains receipts, records, and withdrawals from the inventory.
Receive, unload and shelve supplies.
Ensure adequate record keeping and manage all documentation to confirm proper stock levels and maintain inventory control.
Perform other stock-related duties, including returning, packing, pricing, and labeling supplies.
Inspect deliveries for damage or discrepancies: report those to purchasing for reimbursements and record keeping.
Rotate stock and coordinate the disposal of surpluses.
Coordinate the handling of freight, the movement of equipment, furniture, supplies and necessary minor repairs.
Performs other related duties as required/assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or its equivalent.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in storekeeping, inventory control, or recordkeeping is preferred.
Certificates, Licenses and Other Special Requirements
Must pass a Criminal Background Clearance.
Must have a valid CDL Driver's License or the ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of proper inventory management.
Familiarity with standard concepts and best practices in a stockroom or warehouse environment.
Analytical mind with ability to make accurate mathematical computations.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Keen attention to detail and ability to effectively manage time.
Ability to safely operate a forklift.
Skills to operate common office equipment.
Ability to work with a computer and be able to utilize purchasing/inventory software and Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to work with others under a wide variety of circumstances; working with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using defined methods.
Ability to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with data of widely varied types and/or purposes; and utilize job-related equipment.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
Work environment is primarily inside, where the noise levels are moderate. Temperatures in the non-air conditioned warehouse can be very warm during the summer months. Work can also include outdoor responsibilities with exposure to weather conditions.
The work is heavy work that requires exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Must possess the physical ability to work primarily with fingers, perceive the nature of sounds, make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive processes, express or exchange ideas by the spoken word, substantial movements (motions) with the hands, wrists, and/or fingers, and discern letters or numbers at a given distance.
Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, manual dexterity, mental acuity, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, and walking.
