Job Title: District Lead Librarian
Pay Grade: $5,000 Stipend
Primary Purpose:
Provide leadership in the development, implementation and coordination of a comprehensive program for library and media services.
Supervise and manage the school library/media center. Provide services and resources that allow students to develop skills in locating, evaluating, synthesizing, and using information to solve problems. Serve as teacher, research materials expert, and curriculum adviser to ensure that the library/media center is involved in instructional programs of the school.
Qualifications
Education/Certification:
Master's degree
Valid Texas librarian or learning resources specialist certificate or endorsement
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Extensive knowledge of library science and trends in the field
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Working knowledge of technology advances, hardware, software and Web 2.0 resources of the district
Experience:
Must be a current CCISD Librarian
Prefer experience in library/media center in a public school setting.
Prefer previous supervisory experience or budgeting in schools.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Work with campus principals to hire campus librarians.
Monitor state library standards and campus library expenditures to ensure proper alignment of the library collection with resources allocated.

- Coordinate the district's library and media services program and make changes based upon continued evaluation and recommend policies or procedures to improve the program.
- Recruit, train, and support campus librarians
- Schedule, prepare and conduct staff meetings for librarians when required.
- Develop alternative training opportunities or improvement plans to ensure the success of the library program.
- Implement and comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rules, and local board policy in the area of library services.
- Compile and maintain all physical and computerized reports, records and other required documents.
- Serve as information resource for users of library/media center materials and provide staff development opportunities for teachers on the availability and use of campus and district learning resources.
- Take a leadership role in promoting and demonstrating the use of new technologies and media.
- Make resources available to students and faculty through a systematically developed collection within the school library and through access to resources outside the school.
- Interact with students to promote positive attitudes toward the school library.
- Comply with federal and state laws, State Board of Education rules, and board policy in the library/media services area , district and campus routines and regulations.
- Maintain a positive and effective relationship through communication with supervisors, colleagues, students and parents.
- Participate in ongoing and current professional development opportunities in order to provide innovative library services.
