The Role of a Teacher's Assistant at Meeting Street Schools:

Meeting Street Schools (MSS) Teacher's Assistants support the classroom teacher in providing a well-organized, smoothly functioning classroom environment while providing an outstanding educational experience for all students.

Responsibilities:

    • Supports the work of the lead teacher in either a PreK, Special Education or Primary Classroom.
    • Supports the Lead Teacher in preparing materials, meals, and activities
    • Works with small groups and manages student behavior as instructed by the teacher
    • Maximizes effective learning and productivity through organization of space and materials
    • Teaches and reinforces routines and procedures to maximize instructional time
    • Actively takes a productive role in the cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development of children
    • Works collaboratively with the families and significant adults in the lives of each student through essential communication and collaboration
    • Exercises clear judgement and integrity in decision-making, foresees the ripple effect of decisions, and makes kind and expedient decisions with the student always at the forefront
    • Participates in school-wide functions and events
    • Shares a commitment to the mission, goals, culture, and objectives of MSS
    • Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisor

Skills and Characteristics

    • Ability to inspire, motivate and engage children2+ years' experience working with students from under-resourced communities
    • Team player, ability to work in a collaborative, responsible and professional manner
    • A deep belief of MSS' vision, to make a difference for under-resourced students
    • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines
    • Goal-oriented, seeks to improve skills through constructive feedback
    • Compassionate, enthusiastic, empathetic and displays a strong work ethic
    • Ability to kneel, sit, stand for long periods of time

Educational Background and Work Experience

    • High School Diploma required, Bachelor's degree preferred

Salary for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience, typically salaried will fall in the range of $35,000 - $38,ooo. Salaries will be prorated based on start day.
