JOB TITLE: Catering and Production Manager

Classification: IIC

Calendar: 260-days

Job Summary: The job of "Catering and Production Manager" will be responsible for the following: planning/executing caterings at multiple sites. When catering is not scheduled this position will do production cooking, packaging and inventorying items for other locations. This position will do special department wide production projects when there is not catering. This position drives Nutrition Services high standards for customer service while maintaining and meeting revenue goals. Qualified candidates must be passionate about food service, highly creative and eager to share their talents. These duties are to be carried out in a safe and efficient manner and comply with mandated health requirements.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Excellent interpersonal, communications, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to plan and manage at both the strategic and operational levels.
  • Ability to cost and construct quotes for services. Must understand budgets and working within budgets.
  • Ability to create menus, manage recipes and presentation. Menus must be flexible, meet cost price points and accommodate allergies for participants of events.
  • Communicate with and provide direction and supervision to team members to execute catering and production events.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and staff to create results in a driven, team-oriented environment.
  • 3-5 years' experience in a quality foodservice operation. Management level with catering experience preferred.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor. Ability to remain calm and collected when dealing with customers and community stake holders.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and work effectively, independently, and efficiently within tight time constraints.
  • Must be creative, innovative and able to be pro-active.
  • Maintain regular attendance and a flexible schedule to accommodate client's needs before, during, and after events.
  • Must be detail oriented and perform work accurately and timely.
  • Must be able to transport equipment and food needed for events.
  • Develops and maintains positive relations with students, staff and the community with the purpose of supporting positive interactions for the district and the food services program.
  • Will fill in the base summer lead position for our community summer feeding programs
  • Perform any other duties as requested by NS Management Team


Other Job Functions:

Assists other personnel as may be required with the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.

Qualifications:
  • Experience Required: Prior job-related experience in food preparation and catering with increasing levels of responsibility including supervision.
  • Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities Required:

Skills to prepare food in large quantities, plan menus, operate, care for and maintain institutional kitchen equipment (including but not limited to industrial sized food slicer, mixers, ovens and dishwashers), maintain inventory control, use standard office equipment including computer, communicate effectively.
  • Monitors own work to ensure quality.
  • Meets or exceeds productivity standards
  • Possess excellent CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILL
  • Performs work with little or no supervision; works independently.
  • Demonstrates initiative and ACCOUNTABILITY for their job performance
  • Knowledge of modern methods of food preparation, health codes and sanitation principles, nutritional requirements.


Abilities to stand/walk for prolonged periods, keep and maintain accurate records, understand and carry out oral and written instructions, communicate and direct other personnel. Significant physical abilities include lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds, balancing, stooping, reaching/handling/manual dexterity, talking/hearing conversations and other sounds (potential hazards), visual acuity/depth perception/visual accommodation.
  • Education Required: High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing Required:

Oregon Fingerprint and Criminal Check clearance, Appropriate Food Handler Permit, ServSafe certified or able to obtain within 3 months.

Schedule: 7 hrs/per day, follow high school schedule, flexibility based on need. 260-day work calendar
