THE SCHOOL BOARD OF HIGHLANDS COUNTY

POSITION TITLE: Athletic Director

ASSIGNMENT: Athletic Director - Middle School


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Valid Educator's Certificate or high school diploma/GED or post secondary degree
  2. Valid Athletic Coaching Certificate
  3. Valid CPR and First Aid Certification
  4. Previous coaching experience
  5. Physical Requirements: Light work, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects
  6. Satisfactory clearance of a criminal history records check and drug screening


ADDITIONAL DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Three (3) years of coaching experience
Management experience preferred

PRIMARY PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Ensures FHSAA regulations/policies compliance of all coaches and student athletes
  2. Determines eligibility of student athletes
  3. Prepares end-of-season reports for all sports
  4. Attends FHSAA clinics
  5. Manages c2c Schools website
  6. Secures contracts for all athletic events
  7. Assists school administrator(s) with enforcement of disciplinary action of coaches and student athletes
  8. Submits score reports for all athletic events
  9. Serves as host for district and state tournament/series events as per FHSAA rules
  10. Assists administrator(s) with hiring of coaches
  11. Provides input/assists administrator(s) with annual evaluation of coaches
  12. Secures officials for all home athletic events
  13. Secures transportation for all away athletic events
  14. Coordinates security for all home athletic events with Sheriff's department
  15. Schedules administrative staff for home athletic events
  16. Assists administrator(s) with budget expenditures approval process for all sport teams
  17. Coordinates athletic event coverage with local EMT
  18. Schedules staff coverage for all home athletic events to include: ticket sales, gate coverage, announcers, clock operators, scorekeepers, concession stand sales
  19. Oversees booster clubs to ensure FHSAA compliance
  20. Submits press releases to media to include: athletic schedules, fund raisers, collegiate signings
  21. Ensures gender equity
  22. Coordinates facility usage
  23. Inspects all athletic venues and equipment for safety violations/hazards

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

Performs duties as directed by supervising administrator

TERM:

Supplemental position only; periods/hours determined by supervising administrator depending upon schedule needs

APPRAISAL:

Performance appraised by supervising administrator

PAYGRADE:

Based on Board approved supplemental salary schedule
