The Colorado Association of School Boards (CASB) is seeking a highly qualified and experienced leader to serve as its Executive Director.  The CASB Board of Directors, would like a successful candidate to assume responsibilities of the position no later than July 1, 2023.

Association Description:

The Colorado Association of School Boards (CASB) was organized in 1940 to promote public education in Colorado and provide services to its 178 public school district boards of education members to assist them in matters of school governance and all aspects of school operation. 

 

Today, CASB is a non-partisan, non-profit, quasi-governmental organization governed by a 23-member board composed of representative school board members from each of CASB's 12 regions across Colorado and further represents the interests of its members on state and national levels on issues of importance to public education and local boards of education pursuant to the organization's vision and mission:

The Qualifications

 

The successful candidate must have the background, skills, and abilities necessary to lead a well-established, non-partisan membership organization dedicated to advancing excellence in public education and equity for each and every student.  As a result, the Board seeks a candidate who is:

  • A strong communicator and relationship builder who embraces the inherent complexity of education in Colorado and can effectively promote the value of non-partisan school boards to the media, elected officials, and  PK-12 partners. The Executive Director must be able to engage, inspire, collaborate, listen, and value the opinion of others.  Strong negotiation skills and the ability to present complex information clearly, accurately, and transparently are required.
  • An experienced leader who possesses high ethical standards and integrity, combined with a demonstrated track record of  results. The successful candidate must understand how to develop and implement strategic and operational plans and manage an effective and financially sustainable organization. The Executive Director is also responsible for leadership direction in the day-to-day operations of CASB and ensuring staff compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations as well as all CASB policies and procedures.
  • Committed to equity and who has effectively integrated diversity, equity, and inclusion into the work at all levels of an organization.
  • Familiar with differing governance models and has worked for a Board of Directors who serves as an organization's strategic governing body.  The successful candidate must understand the differing iterations of governing by policy and boards governing by bylaws and rules of order.  The Executive Director must have demonstrated ability to develop a sound working relationship with the Board of Directors and guide the organization’s mission and vision as defined by the Board.
  • Energetic and able to simultaneously manage multiple projects involving many people.

 

Salary Range:            $165,000-$180,000, Colorado PERA membership, and comprehensive fringe benefits
