GENERAL EDUCATION PARAEDUCATOR

Dieringer Heights Elementary School

This position is 6.5 hours/day, 8:15 am-3:15 pm Monday - Thursday. Fridays 8:15-2:00 pm (5.25 hrs)

Purpose Statement:
The purpose of this position is to provide supervisory support during lunch service and recess(es).

Paraeducators work under the day-to-day direction of the staff member(s) supported, and under the direct supervision of the Principal, Principal Designee, or District Designee. Teachers and/or educational staff associates provide specific directions and oversight for supervision and/or instructional support. Paraeducators are responsible for being familiar with the school/district policies and procedures which govern their work.

PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITES
  • Supervise students in the lunchroom and playground
  • Assist with classroom instruction
  • Provide behavioral interventions for students when needed
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information
  • Establish and maintain positive rapport with staff, students, and parents
  • Facilitates student involvement in school activities
  • Required to follow Board policies and stay abreast of updates and changes.
  • May attend building meetings and events i.e. staff meetings, open house, and/or related in-service activities/workshops
  • May serve on building committees
  • May attend program meetings and events, i.e. department meetings, open house, and or related in-service activities/workshops
  • Perform other duties as assigned by teacher or administrator

Qualifications : QUALIFICATIONS:

*AA degree or two years of college, or Satisfactory score on ParaPro assessment
*History of good attendance
*Ability to produce evidence of COVID-19 vaccination upon request
*Demonstrated interest and aptitudes for performing job responsibilities
*Ability to work independently and cooperatively with staff and students
*Demonstrated knowledge or experience with academic concerns
*Satisfactory completion of Paraeducator Fundamental Course of Study preferred, but not required
*Ability to lift 60 pounds
