We are currently seeking candidates with bachelor's degrees who are interested in becoming Emergency Certified Special Education Teachers.

As a Emergency Certified Teacher you must be comfortable working with children with disabilities and challenging behaviors proving classroom instruction and support. This unique position at our approved private schools in West Chester and Downingtown is year round (52 weeks) Monday-Friday 8am-4pm. We also have positions at our schools in Malvern and Glenmoore Pa, which are 41week positions Monday-Friday 8am-4pm with ESY schedules available.

Devereux Pennsylvania Children's Services (DPACS) center serves children, adolescents and young adults with autism spectrum disorders, intellectual and developmental disabilities, behavioral, emotional and psychiatric challenges and disorders. Located in West Chester and Malvern Pennsylvania, services provided include psychiatric residential treatment (PRTF), residential treatment (RTF), acute inpatient psychiatric hospital (AIP), assessment services, community-based mental health services, community-based employment training and social skills training, and approved private school educational services to male and female children and adolescents (6-21 years of age) with diagnoses of intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, concomitant psychiatric and behavioral challenges often associated with experiencing some level of trauma in their lives. A primary focus throughout the program is the philosophy of Program-Wide Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PW-PBIS), a program-wide system of care that promotes and rewards positive behaviors, and prevents negative behaviors, to create safe, supportive living environments. Each year, more than 1,000 children and adolescents receive specialized care, in the environment best suited to the unique challenges they face, all with the goal of providing each child with the academic, social, emotional and life skills needed to flourish in their home community.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree

Experience working with special needs individuals preferred.

Devereux requires all individuals interviewing for a position involving contact with children to complete The Diana Screen, a screening that assesses a candidate's understanding of appropriate boundaries between adults and children
