SELECTION PROCEDURE: All applicants are required to take and pass the written examination scheduled above. Areas covered on the examination are math, grammar, spelling, filing, name and number checking, composition of a WORD memo or letter, and a WORD table, and timed typing. Typing certificates for 45 nwpm, within the last six months, will be accepted or applicants may take timed typing test at exam. If submitting a typing certificate, it must be submitted prior to final filing date (online typing certificates will not be accepted). Calculators may be used on the examination but will not be provided.

REQUIREMENTS: All applicants must possess the knowledge and skill required for successful job performance as follows:
TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:
• Two years increasingly responsible clerical experience
• Completion of high school level coursework in arithmetic or bookkeeping
• Experience in dealing with students and young adults
KNOWLEDGE OF:
• Applicable state laws, district policies, procedures and other regulations governing student educational programs and attendance
• Modern office equipment and procedures
• Report preparation and correspondence methods
• English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation
• General principles of supervision and training
SKILL IN:
• Performing a variety of clerical duties in an accurate and timely manner
• Establishing and maintaining effective relationships with others
• Preparing records and reports
• Communicating clearly orally and in writing; following oral and written instruction
• Typing with speed and accuracy
• Operating a computer and software
