The Work and Why it Matters

The Product R&D team supports this bold vision by prototyping and productizing novel capabilities for Saga's best-in-class products. Today these products include Saga Connect , Saga Coach , and Woot Math . Saga Connect is an online learning platform for live tutor-student interactions. It enables our tutors (Saga Fellows and AmeriCorps members) to deliver high quality online math instruction. It was ranked as the best online platform for live instruction by the College Board, and we are proud to support the use of it by other organizations.

Saga is the best at training non-educators to be high quality and high impact. Our most recent effort is Saga Coach, an innovative platform that strives to capture this training in a self-serve course that is as engaging as it is effective.

Last, we continue to deepen our direct support of math teachers through Woot Math, a research-based, award-winning adaptive learning and formative assessment platform for the K-12 math classroom ( acquired by Saga Education in 2020).

Our team is passionate about building high-value products that enable transformative learning and support the teachers and tutors that are the frontline of that work. To do this, we continuously gather data, listen to our users, and leverage this data to provide tools and platforms that are as effective as they are delightful.

Position Overview

Saga Education is at the forefront of education reform and innovation. We are investing heavily in technology and products to accelerate this vision. We collaborate with AI Researchers at leading academic institutions on AI-driven technological solutions that can bear in the development of Saga's solutions for online learning and tutor professional development. We are looking for a Senior Research Software Engineer to collaborate with these research teams and to help integrate AI-based models and solutions into our software platforms that support online learning and tutor professional development.

Responsibilities

• You will assume a leadership role in synthesizing, integrating and parameterizing AI technologies, modern machine learning techniques, and algorithms
• You will interface with research institutions at the forefront of cutting-edge AI research
• You will develop data extraction and analysis pipelines and job/container orchestration in support of both the research efforts and the algorithm integration efforts
• You will assume technical leadership in the implementation and productization of interfaces to AI-capabilities for Saga's suite of software products
• You will partner with UI/UX design teams, and/or implement UI depending on your skillset and interests
• You will work closely with Saga's engineering and product teams on the design and development of AI-enhanced products for tutors, teachers, and students

Experience & Qualifications

• You have completed a MS/PhD degree in Computer Science or related field with an emphasis on algorithms
• You have knowledge of and interest in machine learning algorithms, tools and systems
• You have 3 or more years experience in algorithm- and data- intensive applications
• You are passionate about developing software products that make an impact in education
