JOB SUMMARY:
The parish secretary performs a wide variety of clerical duties. The position is 24 hours per week.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Knowledge of:
Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school supplemented by additional training in office organization and secretarial skills.

The parish secretary performs a wide variety of clerical duties. The position is 24 hours per week.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Answers the phone and assists callers and visitors to the parish office.
- Prepare the weekly parish bulletin.
- Maintain parish database of parishioners, sacramental records, contribution records, and parish calendar.
- General office duties: sort and distribute mail, order supplies, address general parish emails, send out announcements, record mass intentions, and mailings.
- Coordinate duties and responsibilities with fellow parish secretary
- Performs other duties as assigned by the pastor.
Knowledge of:
- Organizational operations, policies and objectives.
- Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary.
- Modern office practices, procedures and equipment.
- Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office Suite and Google applications.
- Telephone techniques and etiquette.
- Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.
- Oral and written communication skills.
- Basic math.
- Learn parish organization, operations, policies and objectives.
- Assure smooth and efficient office operations.
- Maintain a variety of records, logs and files.
- Understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
- Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
- Meet schedules and timelines.
- Protect confidential information.
- Complete work with many interruptions.
- Work independently with little direction.
- Work confidentially with discretion.
