Job Description
The BRSU is seeking a Library Media Specialist to serve students at The Dorset School (0.60 FTE) and Sunderland Elementary School (0.40 FTE).

We envision this role being a great opportunity for elementary school teachers that may be interested in pursuing a library/media position.

Responsibilities of the position include:
- Working with students and teachers to demonstrate proficiency in the local curriculum as well as the Common Core Standards
- Embracing team teaching/co-planning opportunities with classroom teachers to provide intervention and/or technology integration
- Providing a full-service 21st century library media experience that incorporates both traditional print literacy and current technologies
- Collaborating with teachers in the development and delivery of literacy intervention plans to meet the needs of all learners.
- Demonstrate expertise in utilizing technology to support instruction.
- Have knowledge of and promote the PBIS Framework at each school
- Possess outstanding organizational, planning, and collaboration skills
- Have the capacity to effectively engage ALL students regardless of where they are on the continuum of learning
- Effectively integrate technology and 21st century media skills into any learning environment
- Knowledge of and experience with assessments related to targeted reading intervention instruction is a plus.

Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors Holds or is eligible to hold a Vermont Teaching License with appropriate endorsement Copies of transcripts and license(s) must be uploaded to the application for all licensed positions. Successful applicants to Licensed positions will be required to provide copies of official transcripts to Human Resources before completion of the hiring process. Preferences: Master's Degree preferred 3-61 PreK-12 School Librarian endorsement is preferred
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience preferred
  • Bachelor degree preferred
  • Citizenship, residency or work VISA in United States required

    The Bennington-Rutland Supervisory Union (BRSU) is a public school system located in southwestern Vermont. The BRSU includes school districts in four Vermont counties and three Vermont technical center regions. The BRSU is the second largest Vermont supervisory union with a total area of approximately 460 square miles. In 2018, BRSU districts have a total combined enrollment of 2,200 students.

    A unique feature of the BRSU is that none of its districts operates a high school. All BRSU districts have high school choice. BRSU districts send students to over 30 public and independent high schools with a large number of BRSU students choosing to attend Burr and Burton Academy in Manchester, VT.
