Director of Brand and Creative Strategy - Remote

Are you passionate about literacy? For almost three decades, Wilson Language Training� (WLT) has been dedicated to �Literacy for All.� We empower individual educators, schools, and districts to achieve literacy with all students in their care.

We started with the education of teachers who were working with individuals with dyslexia. Now, in addition to our school- and district-level in-service work, the Wilson certification models are embedded into several universities� reading or special education graduate degree programs so that teachers are better prepared to teach the most challenged readers.

Whether educators work with us in their schools/districts or at a university, our goal is the same: to give them a high-level of knowledge and skill with teaching reading and writing to all of their students.

Our company is growing and actively looking to hire a Director of Brand and Creative Strategy to join our team and bring Wilson�s creative vision to life across our channels. You will be the driving force behind our brand strategy and communication, leading the evolution and elevation of our brand identity, look and feel, and creative output. You will bring a strategic perspective and vision to creative campaigns, and act as an advocate for customer-focused, innovative creative solutions.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Develop and champion the creative vision for the Wilson brand, not only for promotional/marketing materials, but also owning visual aspect of Wilson digital and print products
  • Elevate our brand identity, evolving and maintaining brand standards across channels and as our products categories and markets expand
  • Apply consumer insights to contribute to our brand messaging and strategy
  • Drive creative strategy, seasonal campaigns, and deliverables aligned to business goals across various customer touchpoints, including digital marketing, advertising, catalog, print and digital
  • Collaborate with our leadership team, internal business leads, marketing team, and outside agencies/partners to achieve business goals
  • Lead and develop the Creative team across disciplines (digital design, print design, copywriting, photo & video, UX/UI), promoting creative exploration, innovation, quality standards, and continuous learning
  • Advocate for creative best practices within Wilson, keeping us innovating in ways that delight our customers
  • Solve problems with creative solutions

Basic Qualifications:
  • 2+ years� experience as a Brand Creative Director
  • 5+ years of hands-on design experience across print, digital and/or UX/UI
  • 2-5 years of managing a team of 3-5 people.
  • A portfolio/body of work demonstrating past work on brand campaigns from concept to launch

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated passion and ability to shape consumer-facing brands through a deep understanding of the customers and effective development and execution of creative vision
  • Experience evolving (not just launching or maintaining) an existing brand
  • Experience driving towards measurable business goals and contributing to overall company financial performance through a well-executed creative vision
  • Proven ability to plan and manage complex, budget-intensive creative projects,
  • Strong people management skills and experience overseeing teams with the proven ability to develop creative skills across different creative disciplines (digital design, print design, copy, photo, and video) and enthusiasm for growing and developing team members
  • Ability to listen to and prioritize feedback from internal and external partners, aligning the team in a unified and inspired direction
  • Strong project management and strategic process development skills, with the ability to juggle multiple, and sometimes conflicting, priorities and needs
  • Excellent visual, verbal, and written communication skills
  • An amazing eye for detail, with the ability to see and understand the big picture
