The Academic Student Support supports students in the classroom by providing intervention to students in grades 6-12 at the Grand Canyon Private Academy. This individual is responsible for working with students and parents to identify online learning strengths and areas for improvement, provide excellent customer service, and ensure student improvement through intervention strategies. The Academic Student Support will monitor, track and address the needs of the students specifically with regard to online learning success factors while building and maintaining relationships with students and parents. The duties of the Academic Student Support work remotely.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The below statements are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position.   • Assist Teacher with student strengths and challenges as identified in the online learner profile and delivers targeted intervention to drive student success according to a prescribed process.
  • Assists with system navigation techniques and tips through emails, emails, orientations, phone calls and demonstrating in the online learning course;
  • Monitors student progress and communicates to the teacher if program adjustments are needed;
  • Conduct live support sessions;
  • Maintains regular contact and meetings with students and families, as assigned, via telephone, e-mail, instant messenger, and/or web conferencing to foster strong academic relationships and provide the necessary support.
  • Provides timely responses to all phone calls, emails, and e-mails received from students, staff and parents, and follow-up on teacher escalations;
  • Formally communicates student progress, contact metrics and concerns/accomplishments to the teacher on a weekly basis;
  • Participates in staff meetings, K12 Professional Development sessions, and other meetings as assigned;
  • Assists with student network and community efforts as directed.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
  • Associate's Degree OR
  • 2 or more years of customer service experience
  • Experience working with children or youth
  • Demonstrated proficiency in using online tools and applications
  • Professional verbal and writing skills
  • Comfortable with online and telephone communication with customers

Certificates and Licenses: No required certificates or licenses

OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Ability to pass required background check.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Tutoring experience or experience as a school or classroom aid

  • Visual: Ability to see and read PC screens, and normal type size print.

  • Computers/Peripherals/Other Office Machines: Computer
  • Computer Software: Electronic Mail Software (Microsoft Outlook preferred); Spreadsheet and Word Processing Software, (Microsoft Excel and Word preferred); Web proficiency.
  • Other Tools/Devices/Machines (including Vehicles): No other tools, devices or machines are required in order to perform the essential functions of the position.

Compensation & Benefits: Stride, Inc. considers a person's education, experience, and qualifications, as well as the position's work location, expected quality and quantity of work, required to travel (if any), external market and internal value when determining a new employee's salary level. Salaries will differ based on these factors, the position's level and expected contribution, and the employee's benefits elections. Offers will typically be in the bottom half of the range.
  • We anticipate this position will pay between $14.23 to $26.00 per hour. The upper end of this range is not likely to be offered, as an individual's compensation can vary based on several factors. These factors include but are not limited to, geographic location, experience, training, education, and local market conditions. Eligible employees may receive a bonus. Stride offers a robust benefits package for eligible employees that can include health benefits, retirement contributions, and paid time off.
